The rulesets to be discussed every week is gotten from spl page which publishes weekly on the battle mage secrets theme. The publication of this week can be accessed by clicking the link here. The selected ruleset to be discussed this week is the "Earthquake Ruleset". Sit back and enjoy the battle I present today while giving you some victory tips on earthquake ruleset battle.
Ruleset: EarthQuake
First, every splinterlands ruleset has a unique identity given to them. For the Earthquake ruleset, the unique identity is given as the below image.
Also, every ruleset has what they are known for. Playing under the ruleset of Earthquake means that non flying monsters takes two melee damage at the end of every round. This is called melee damage because it starts from the armor for monsters that have armor. Playing the earthquake ruleset battle requires the inclusion of flying monsters as many as possible. Although using flying monsters gives one an advantage in the battle, it does not however guarantee winning. A good non flying monsters team could also do the job just as the team I presented for this battle. A team of zero non flying monster built on a particular monster "Quora Towershead". The team for this battle has been selected strategically and the next section discusses it in full.
Strategic Team selection and Positioning
This team leverages the power of Quora's bloodlust ability working perfectly with the martyr ability. Instead of engaging flying monsters, the team presented monsters with the martyr ability with the intent of leveraging their early elimination to strengthen the main monster Quora. The team and their positioning is as follows in order of lineup.
HELIOS MATRIARCH
The soul-bound dragon summoner Helios was used for the reason of being able to summoner monsters from the gladiator set. Being from the dragon class also meant it can summon dragon monsters to the battlefield. By stat, this monster offers extra one speed to all friendly monsters and give room for the use of one gladiator card.
HILL GIANT
Hill Giant placed at the forefront of the team isn't because it is very strong but since the team isn't built around it, its large health and melee damage was enough reason to get it that position
FUNGUS FLINGER
This monster is one of the martyr ability ones which the intent is to enhance the ability of Quora on their elimination. Flinger is a ranged monster with one ranged damage but possesses the blind and martyr ability. On its death, the monsters close to it gains a stat increase.
QUORA TOWERSHEAD
Quora which is regarded as the main man in the lineup came in between martyr monsters. The powerful side of Quora comes from its bloodlust ability which increases its stat each time it eliminates an opponent monster. Quora is also a self healing monster and attacks using both magic and melee damage. Once its bloodlust ability is triggered, Quora can be very difficult to stop.
VRUZ
VENARI MARKSRAT
Both Vruz and Marksrat was added to the team for the same purpose. The strategy behind their positioning is to get the low health one to get eliminated first. This is while Vruz came first. At its death, both Quora & Martsrat gains on stat and when martsrat eventually dies, Quora also gains in stat making it stronger. The difference between this two monster is that while Vruz is a sneak melee monster, Marksrat is a ranged monster.
NAGA ASSASSIN
Naga Assassin made the team with just two mana left to accommodate monsters. It's a ranged monster with a high speed but do not possess weapon enough to cause trouble for the opponent. However, all the monsters selected on the team served their purpose leaving Quora to finish the job.
