Because I rent all my rentable cards out I don't have any use for my SPS, so I've been delegating it all to other players, and so far so good.
In this early phase you're limited to one period of delegation - 7 days and you currently have to remember to manually cancel said delegations, otherwise the players you've delegated to effectively get a period of a free-delegation.
I have a theory this is why so many accounts are asking for several small delegations rather than fewer larger ones: cast the delegation request-net wide and I guess there's more chance that delegators will simply forget to cancel, which I guess is more likely for smaller delegations also.
The problem with this is the interface gets flooded with lots of smaller requests, meaning you have to scroll down for a while to fill larger delegations.
I ignore such small amounts because I've got almost 500K SPS to delegate out, I've had to set myself a lower limit of several thousand SPS per delegation otherwise I'm having to do multiple manual transactions for every batch I want to cancel and then redelegate every seven days or so.
Thank you PeakM
I was delighted to see @peakmonsters have got on the case quickly with their 'rent tokens' option, and CRUCIALLY their FILTER option so you can filter out all the low SPS requests....
PeakM also allows you to select and fill multiple bids at once, although ATM you still have to confirm each individual tx using KeyChain separately, but I am sure that is just for now!
A steady 10% return... (but declining...?)
Thus far I'm settling for renting out at 0.007 DEC per SPS, I've had a few got out for between 0.008 and even 0.01, but most are going at the 0.007 rate, which is a return of around 10%, which isn't too shabby on top of the 18% ish return you currently get for staking SPS too.
Although ATW I see that 0.004 SPS per DEC is the current ask price after one juicy 200 000K request at only 0.006, so maybe we'll be looking at a 7% return rather than 10% in the future... it's still easy money I guess!
