This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the Time Mage from the Life splinter...
This is a useful mid mana card with 1 magic damage and reasonable health, slow as a nice debuff and the Mage is FAST at L1 with 4 speed!
The battle below features a Level 1 Mage playing her part in a decent victory!
The Rule Set and Line Up
- Mana cap - 26
- Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)
Summoner - Drake
1.Legionnaire Alva - Void armour to go with double repair...
- DAX - 1 damage for 2 mana
- Time mage - 1 damage and debuff for 2 mana
- Armoursmith - repair 1
- Scavo - repair 2
- Chaos Agent, really for sneak/ opportunity fodder.
Did my strategy work?
Beautifully, to see it in action click here!
- Round 1 - We exchange blows, no losses.
- Round 2 - I lose my repairer 1 to opportunity
- Round 3 - I take out his tank, a nice scalp but lose Dax, ouch.
- Round 4 - Now the tide shifts - I take out his bruiser, Chaos soaks up an opportunity attack, and I take out his Serpentine Spy.
- Rounds 5 and 6 - it's all over! I polish off his remaining two monsters!
How important was The Time Mage?
He did his bit, as part of a double magic attack guaranteed to hit although I wouldn't say he was essential, the slow didn't lead to any misses, not one.
More crucial was Legionnaire Alva's high shields and my double repair holding the fort, and his decent damage too.
In this particular rule set I'd have been better off with a 4 mana card that does 2 damage.
Final Thoughts: Time Mage - Worth Buying?
It's an OK card at L1, good speed and slow, so if speed is your thing, yes, however I wouldn't put it too far up my wish list, there's plenty other cards which are better value for the mana - Dax for example.
If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?
