Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
As per the Proposal #155 Splinterlands was hired by the @sps.dao to develop new promo cards, paying them with 600 million DEC. The sale will be divided in to 5 phases by which 2 promo cards will be available for each phase as well as a separate Auction Event that will run for 100 days where all the card sales will be going to the DAO. As of the writing of this post, the Hall of Legends event already sold 352,735,000 DEC and needs 247,265,000 DEC to break even but this does not include the auction sales and the event has 2 more phase to come, making it highly likely for the DAO to have profit.
With that, lets take a look with the next phase of promo cards that will be available in the next few days to have a better understanding of their use case in battles.
Hall of Legends Phase 4 Cards
Edition | Rebellion (Promo) |
---|---|
Mana Cost | 7 |
Element | Life, Water |
Rarity | Legendary |
Card Type | Melee, Range |
Abilities | Lvl 1- Sneak, Lvl 1- Stun Lvl 2- Knock Out Lvl 3- Divine Shield Lvl 4- Piercing |
Max Stats | 4 Melee, 1 Range 3 Speed 5 Health |
As a legendary card, Nephket requires 11 BCX to have it at max level and at max level, it will cost for 550k DEC. It is a dual-element splinter with Life and Water attribute which has both melee and range damage which can attack backline units using its Sneak ability and has 50% chance to incapacitate the target with Stun at level 1. What's interesting is at level 2, it gets the Knock Out ability that will double the damage inflicted on a stunned unit. At level 3, it gets Divine Shield which makes it invulnerable for the first damage it takes and Piercing at max level that will make its attack penetrate the targets armor.
As it was a both a range and a melee unit, it can be played on both Up Close and Personal and Going the Distance ruleset but where this card could be really be significant was on Heavy Hitters ruleset that gives all monsters the Knock Out ability.
Up Close & Personal | Only Monsters with Melee attack may be used in battles. |
Going the Distance | Only monsters with Range attack may be used in battle. |
Heavy Hitters | All Monsters have the Knock Out ability. |
As for the summoner, Nephket will benefit greatly when used together with Elias Max Pruitt which gives +1 melee and armor on all ally units which this card certainly needs since it has a low health. Using it together with Akane and giving it the Ambush ability will allow for it to attack even before the battle start, giving you and edge against your opponent. But where I could see this card to be quite damaging was when it partners with Nidhoggr and was given the Execute ability by which it can attack once again if the health of the target is 2 or less.
On this battle, we can see how Nephket can inflict such a strong damage in just one round. First, it inflicts 1 range damage where it stuns Iziar, following with a huge 8 damage which is boosted by its Knock Out ability and although it receives damage because of the Thorns it has Divine Shield which makes it to ignore the damage.
Edition | Rebellion (Promo) |
---|---|
Mana Cost | 6 |
Element | Earth, Life |
Rarity | Rare |
Card Type | Magic |
Abilities | Lvl 1- Repair Lvl 2- Dodge Lvl 4- Cleanse Lvl 8- Echo |
Max Stats | 2 Magic 1 Speed 2 Armor 6 Health |
On the other hand, Meriput Mossmender was a rare card meaning, it requires 115 BCX in order to have a max level card and with 3k DEC per copy, one will need 345k DEC to have a max copy of the card. It is also another dual- element card with both Earth and Life attribute that can use magic attack. It wasn't as strong in terms of damage but it has Repair at level 1 and Cleanse at level 4 which are both support abilities while at level 2, it gets Dodge which gives it 25% chance to evade melee and range attacks. But what makes this card interesting was its last ability, Echo which is a new ability.
Echo is a new support ability that will trigger the effects of all Repair, Heal and Cleanse abilities twice per round. Given how impactful this ability is, Echo will be an ability that could highly define the game's current meta.
In terms of rulesets, having this card could be relevant during Armored Up due to its Repair ability and Noxious Fumes ruleset where it could Cleanse the Poison status on an ally unit, both of which could be triggered twice by Echo. It could be also be playable on Keep Your Distance and Wands Out ruleset as a magic unit that can attack regardless of its position.
Armored Up | All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat. |
Noxious Fumes | All Monsters start the battle Poisoned. |
Keep Your Distance | Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles. |
Wands Out | Only monsters with Magic attack may be used in battles. |
Being it both a magic unit, Meriput Mossmender can gain additional damage when used together with Obsidian but as a support card, it would benefit more with ** Elias Max Pruitt** that could give a unit an additional Repair and Cleanse ability as well as from Eternal Tofu that can give the Triage ability in one ally unit.
Upon trying out Meriput Mossmender, it seems like the effect of the Echo ability was not working. During Oshuur Constantia only healed Grimbardum Smith once and with only 4 health which is 1/3 of its health which is pretty much what the Tank Heal ability can do.
Same with Adelade Brightwing which only restores 2 armor instead of fully restoring it. It could be that although the cards were already available for testing, the ability was not yet implemented and will be active once the phase 4 sale has started but when it finally comes, it will be one of the must need card to be competitive in the game.
Final Thoughts
Upon trying the cards, I could say that Nephket is already good enough to have it at level 2 while Meriput Mossmender gets most of its abilities at level 4 but between the two, having Meriput Mossmender at max level is a must have specially for those that plays at the highest league. What's more is that it synergizes well with the most powerful modern summoner so I believe that the demand for this card will be much higher compared with the previous phase.
Thank you and see you at the next post.
