Note: This is a fan-made lore about a Splinterlands character.
Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
Chaos Legion was one of the card sets that is currently playable on modern and this was also the set that has the most number of cards. In terms of lore, this set also was the most rich lore which allows us to further understand and have a sense of attachment on the cards that we play.
And so for this weeks Community Engagement Challenge, I want to expand the lore of Doctor Blight which is one of the promo card that belongs to the Chaos Legion set. But before that, below was the promotional video for Chaos Legion to give you the basic lore about the game as well as an introductory lore for Doctor Blight (1:22-1:43).
From Doctor of Life to Doctor Of Death
Doctor Alastair Lexington. That's the name of the person who was once Doctor Blight. He does not come from a wealthy family but at a young age, he has shown an intellect that is incomparable to his peers and because of this, he was able to acquire scholarships to finish his studies without burdening his family. Because of his fascination to flora, he decided to work as a Botanist to the Quillton Field University in Pelcroft which is near the jungles of Azmare due to its very diverse wildlife. Doctor Alastair has spent his time in the university studying different species of plants and through his research, he was able to formulate different types of medicines that has cured several illnesses and save peoples lives. Eventually he becomes one of the most respected person in the fields of Botany. However, one major event in Splinterlands will change the life of Doctor Alastair upside down when the continent of Praetoria suddenly reveals itself to the world.

One day, the continent of Praetoria suddenly rise from the bottom of the ocean which took place the same time when the Wizards Council which protects the peace of Splinterlands, suddenly vanished. Was the rise of Praetoria related to the disappearance of the Wizards Council? As of this moment, no one knows but with the appearance of this continent is a new land with many unknowns and with this many unknowns got the curiosity of Doctor Alastair. Eventually, he set up a small expedition team to explore the continent of Praetoria and unveil its secrets.

As soon as the expedition team lands on Praetoria, the investigation immediately commence, ignoring the exhaustion from their long travel because in front of them is an entirely new world to discover. Not even half the day has passed and the expedition team has made a lot of progress in their research, finding new species of plants and animals. Doctor Alastair, Lost on his own research did not realize that he got separated with the expedition team and continues to go deeper and deeper in to the jungles. He only realized that he was separated when he needs to get another notebook because the notebook where he is taking notes is already full. Realizing this, he tried to search for the expedition team but without any clue of their location, the doctor has just gone further and further away from the expedition team.
As the doctor becomes more tired and fatigue, he started to lose hope of finding the investigation team but then he suddenly heard a voice saying "Hello!". The voice was eerie and sends shivers to the doctors body as he tried the locate the source of the voice. The voice speak once again saying "Come here stranger. I am not an enemy.".
The doctor responds to the voice by asking "Who are you? Are you a resident of this place? Do you know where are the people that is together with me?"
The Voice responds "You can call me Silus. As for my affiliation, I can' answer you but if you follow me, I will tell you where your colleagues are. You only need to follow my voice."
With no choice left, Doctor Alastair followed the source of the voice until eventually, he arrived on a crater of an inactive volcano. At the center of it there was a stone with ancient text written on it that the doctor has never seen before but even if he was not a mage, the doctor can feel the enormous amount of energy oozing within the stone.
"What you see in front of you is an extreme source of magical energy. By touching the stone, you can take the energy of yours." Silus says.
Despite the words spoken by Silus being suspicious, the Doctor still choose to follow his words, not because of his thirst of power but due to the sheer curiosity to know this unknown thing that is in front of him. Doctor Alastair touches the stone and as he touches the stone, an enormous amount of energy oozes in it, so vast that it becomes so much visible to the eye.
"Whahahaha! Finally, the seal was broken. It will take some time but we will finally be able to free ourselves on this prison. Without the Wizards Council, there is no one that can stop our arrival anymore. As a reward to you young man, bask yourself in our energy and if you survive, I will take you as my servant."

At this point, Doctor Alastair cannot hear what Silus is saying anymore with the vast amount of power going inside his body is causing an enormous amount of pain. The repercussion of absorbing the energy takes a huge toll on his body to the point that it begins to take his youthful looks and turns it into a derange person. To avoid further pain, the doctor runs away to the energy source, realizing how bad a decision it is to listen to the words of a stranger. After being far enough to the volcano, Doctor Alastair suddenly passes out in the middle of the jungle.
Sometime has passed and Doctor Alastair has regained his consciousness. He begins to walk to distance himself further away to the volcano without looking back. Unknown to himself, all the life that on his path slowly rots, as if the life force on it was taken away. On the other hand, upon seeing the enormous amount of energy that was being released to the volcano, the expedition team decided to go to the source of the energy hoping that it may lead them to where the doctor is. Eventually, they find the doctor which is in a terrible condition. His body was all in tatters with lots of injuries so the team tried to immediately administer first aid to the doctor. However, before even getting close to him, all the members of the expedition team suddenly collapsed. No! they do not just collapse, they were dead. The energy that the doctor was releasing is a poison to all living things.
"Why?! Why is this happening to me? I don't want to be the doctor of death!"
As Doctor Alastair screams his lungs out with the absurdity that is in front of his eyes, a huge explosion in the volcano took place which makes it seems that the volcano becomes active ones again but this was not the case. The explosion was the result of the seal being completely broken. Now the Chaos Legion has finally arrives in Praetoria.
Arrival of the Chaos Empire.
"You said you were a doctor right? I'll give you the name Doctor Blight. Serve me as my right hand man and let us cause havoc and chaos until we have all of Splinterlands within our hands." Silus says on the Doctor.
