This weeks challenge is unprotected
The Unprotected ruleset in Splinterlands is one of the most challenging and strategic rulesets to play. In this ruleset, all armor is removed from all monsters and no ability to gain armor during battles. This means that every attack has the full potential to damage your monsters, regardless of their armor stats.
This means that the following abilities are useless
Piercing: if a target has armor a melee or a ranged attack will bypass it and attack to monsters health
Protect: All friendly units gain +2 armor
Rust: Reduces armor of all enemy units
Repair: Restores some armor to unit whose armor has been damaged
Shatter: Destroys target’s armor
In this ruleset we can focus on the following abilities
Shield,Void armor,Heal,Tank Heal,Speed,Flying,Dodge and Taunt
As our strategy we can use some of the above explained cards. Don’t forget that to avoid attacks is as much important as causing great damage .
Remember, the Unprotected ruleset is all about speed, damage, and strategic positioning. By carefully selecting your monsters and summoners.
Now lets have a look to a battle of mine.
It’s a 38 mana battle, I had to choose one of the following decks: Light, Death, and fire. My choice was Light, here are the monsters I choose and the reason of my choice:
Summoner Mother Khala: because she gives all monsters +1 health
1st position Venari Marksat: because when it dies it gives +1 to all stats to adjacent monsters. My intention was to use it along with the synergy in third position to make my second position monster stronger.
2nd position Drybone Barbarian: it has the Enrage ability, this means that when its health is not full all stats take +50% bonus. Also with the synergy of 1st and third position it has potential to become a lethal card.
3rd position High Priest Darius: this monster Was chosen cause of its ability to resurrect a monster. My target is to survive at least one round in order to resurrect venari Marksat and to increase Drybone Barbarian stats for second time. The problem is it low health so I put the other to cards in 4th and 5th position just to give him a chance.
4th position Sandworm: second low health but great attack. Also with the sneak ability ( target the last monster) will work its way through to destroy support low health enemy monsters.
5th position: Venari Crystalsmith: a heal unit it was chosen cause of it low health in order to be sacrificed if the opponent uses snek or opportunity ability. Plus I thought that it might have the chance to do some healing.
Now lets see how the battle went
1st Round: Venari Marksat dies and resurrects by High Prist Darius. This has the planned result +1 to all stats to Drybone Barbarian while Sandworm destroys Tina Mage and High Priest Darius survives from Captain Kate’s attack.
2nd Round: Venari Marksat dies for second time, Drybone Barbarian receives one more time +1to all stats, as planned and Sandworm destroys opponent Venari Crystalsmith.
3rd Round: Opponent Monsters Drybone Barbarian and Pelacor Conjurer are Destroyed and from my side High Priest Darius
4th Round: is the last one Drybone Barbarian destroys Truthspeak and Sandworm destroys Captain Kate.
the Result.
