On Monday, August 29th, I engaged in what must be the most degenerative trade in Splinterlands history.
The purchase began innocently enough while discussing fun words in serial numbers like my BOW Selenia Sky, which is an amazing story in itself I tell here: One of a Kind Alpha Selenia Sky and Free Mug. I'm also working to level up the Selenia Sky slowly but surely! This has to be my favorite card in my entire collection, and I'm quite confident in saying that I will never sell her.
I was looking for an Igor Darkspear with the word THRAWN in his serial number, as Grand Admiral Thrawn is my favorite character in the Star Wars Universe, who is featured in my profile pic. This is a card I've been searching for some time to obtain, but it has always eluded me, if it exists at all. My standing offer is 100$ for a 1BCX Igor Darkspear with Thrawn, and up to 500$ if the Igor is 46 BCX. I'll ensure whoever has a copy, walks away with a really good deal.
While, sadly, the search continues for THRAWN, I did pick up a Merdhampir, who also looks quite a bit like Thrawn, but less so, with the Serial Number: REBELS. Not a total loss!!! But, he's not the star of this article. While a cool trade, he's definitely not the most degenerative trade in Splinterlands History.
This conversation prompted several players to search through their cards for serial numbers when the legendary @holdmycards told me he had an Igor Darkspear with the serial code 69GAG. Wow, what a find. I was willing to offer 100$ for an Igor with Thrawn, but I really wanted this for my collection too. I offered him 69.42 USD for it, which he gleefully accepted when he realized I was making an actual offer.
He told me that his preferred method of payment was dec, which we had a good laugh about being .00069 USD per DEC. Unfortunately, I had no DEC. I did have a lot of vouchers though, which were at the time .423. Of course, I needed the D quickly, so I sold below that at .420 per voucher... to move them fast. 😉
An Igor Darkspear, with a 69GAG serial number, purchased at 69.420 USD, with DEC at .69 per 1K that I acquired by selling vouchers for .420 makes this, by and far, the most degenerative trade in all of splinterland's history.
Once the trade was finished, I noted that Igor does have his spear placed in quite a suspicious manner:
Looking around. Trying not to get caught with his Dark Spear out in public.
This is truly a stunning card. Igor packs a punch, but he's not too fast. He doesn't blow his load too quickly like an exploding rat, but he's got the motion of the ocean and great endurance at 4 health on a two drop card. I give Igor 69 stars out of 69 stars for degeneracy, and I challenge everyone to present a card more degenerative than 69GAG Igor Darkspear. I'm quite confident no one will be able to rise to the occasion quite as robustly as Igor's Darkspear.
I am quite confident in saying this Sketchy trade will go down in splinterlands history and will never be topped. If someone does have a trade that tops this, I definitely want to hear about it!!! I'll be happy to also issue an apology and recognize the true degen trade of all time if any challengers prove their case.
