For this week's battle challenge I chose a card with a very high mana cost but that when it's on the battlefield does a lot of damage, that card is Grund and it belongs in the earth deck.
If you don't know him yet then know that it's an epic card from the chaos legion edition that, in addition to having a high mana cost, is also the epic card of this edition with the highest price and you can be sure that the reason is because it's a great card for battles.
Edition: Chaos Legion.
Rarity: Epic.
Deck: Earth.
Attack type: Melee.
Abilities: Double Strike, Trample and Cripple.
Mana Cost: 10.
Grund is a card that has a lot of attack from level 1 and health, its speed is not low or high, just reasonable and what really makes it a card that does a lot of damage are its abilities as shown in the image below.
Altogether he has 3 abilities and all are geared towards the attack, I'll start talking about Double Strike which is the most powerful of them.
The Double Strike ability allows Grund to attack 2x on his turn so if at level 1 he has 3 attack, he will do 6 damage since attacking 2x and a great combo for this ability is Blast which he doesn't have but can be acquired in the Explosive Weaponry rule, with that its attack would be even better, but even so it does a lot of damage and at higher levels it has 4 damage which is even better.
The Trample ability makes the Grund gain +1 attack when he defeats a card so in addition to attacking 2x because of the Double Strike ability he still has a chance to attack a third time and you can believe that defeating a card is not something difficult for you. him then this ability will be quite useful so he can do even more damage in battle.
The Cripple Ability causes each time an enemy is hit by a Cripple Monster, they lose maximum health. If the crippled monster is cleansed, it will recover 1 life for each time it has been crippled since the last cleanup, as the Grund attacks 2x on its turn it will take 2 life from the card in addition to the damage dealt by its attack, so you can be sure that even if the card is not defeated by Grund, it will take a lot of damage and it won't take long for it to be defeated.
These are Grund's abilities and what make him an incredibly strong card when it comes to dealing damage.
BATTLE
For the battle of this challenge I used Grund at level 1 so it only has the Double Strike ability, but it's still an incredibly powerful card.
To be the summoner I chose Obsidian that grants +1 magic attack and as I have several cards with this type of attack then it will be very useful.
In the first position I chose the Grund that will do a lot of damage and has a lot of health.
In the second position I chose Regal Peryton which is one of the cards with magic attack and that has the ability Flying that increases your chances of dodging attacks from cards that don't have this ability so it will also be a great defense for battles dodging the attacks.
In the third position I chose the Goblin Psychic that will serve as a support with its Tank Heal ability that heals the card positioned in the first position.
In fourth position I chose Khmer Princess which is a card with magic attack without abilities.
In the fifth position I chose Mycelic Morphoid which is a melee card with no abilities.
BATTLE
The battle took place in the Bronze league and there is no rule, the available mana is 28.
In the battle my opponent also used the earth deck with the summoner Obsidian, so it will basically be a battle against cards with magic attack.
Round 1:
In the first round Grund resisted well and defeated my opponent's Failed Summoner card that was positioned in first position, meanwhile my other cards had Mycelic Slipspawn as a target because of its Taunt ability, Goblin Psychic was also very useful restoring 3 health from the Grund.
On my opponent's side, he wasn't able to defeat any cards, just damage my Grund card that had part of its health recovered by Goblin Psychic.
Round 2:
In the second round Grund manages to defeat the Mycelic Slipspawn card but he is defeated soon after because he had low health and didn't have time for the Goblin Psychic to heal him, but he did a lot of damage while he was on the battlefield and that's what matters, now it's left Regal Peryton being the defensive card in this battle.
On my opponent's side he defeats Grund and also has the Regal Peryton card in the first position as a defense, both sides have the Goblin Psychic as a healing support.
Round 3:
In the third round, my opponent's Regal Peryton card was defeated and soon after, the Goblin Psychic too, so he lost his main remaining defense and also his support, being very vulnerable and with only 1 card on the field.
On my opponent's side he wasn't able to do any damage with the cards that were defeated as they didn't have a chance to attack, but he still did damage with his last card on the field which was Khmer Princess.
Round 4:
In the fourth round the battle came to an end with their last card which was the Khmer Princess being defeated.
Although Grund was defeated in the second round he was very useful for the battle and was able to do a lot of damage while he was on the field and if it wasn't for that the result would probably have been different, in addition he defeated the Failed Summoner card soon at first it was important because then my cards with magic attack would not be damaged by their Magic Reflect ability.
That was my battle for this challenge and remember that Grund is a great card to have in your battles.
