With the town hall taking place I decided I'm going to get a little more involved with it all. Presenting a recap and then my own thoughts and opinions on the matter. Take note these are of my own opinions and research I've done for myself and it's not finical advice.
With that being said if you are interested in getting into Splinterlands you can join here Join Web3 Splinterlands Game

New Reward Cards
As of tomorrow Aug. 15th 2024 old reward cards will be cycled out and replaced with... NEW Reward cards! I was lucky enough to be picked for one of the people who got early access to share a card on social media ahead of time and I have to say I do love this card!
✨Olivia of the Brook
Species: Materran
Race: Human
Subrace: Lyverian
Special: None
Splinter: Kingdom of Lyveria
Aspect: Caster
Backstory:
When the Chaos Empire swept across Praetoria and conquered Lyveria, many of its citizens were conscripted into its legions. Among them was the druid Timotai, who sacrificed his own freedom to ensure his young daughter, Olivia, escaped.
She fled into the wilderness with her snow leopard, Cloudy, where she learned to forage and survive. She spent her days practicing the druidic magic her father had taught her, and she vowed to help her people break the chains of oppression.
With time and determination, her power grew. She used it to strike against empire depots, patrols, and outposts before vanishing once more into the shadows. And she delivered food, medicine, and other supplies to villagers and townsfolk.
The legend of Olivia of the Brook and her snow leopard grew. The empire put a sizable bounty on them. Legionnaires set traps and laid ambushes. Yet their knowledge of the wilderness made Olivia and Cloudy impossible to track and capture.
In spite of the ever growing danger, Olivia’s resolve has never wavered. She and Cloudy have become symbols of freedom. Her actions have shown the people of Lyveria that, if a young girl can have the courage to stand against an empire, they too can find it within themselves to rise up and fight for their freedom.
Conflicts
Now I personally got in pretty fast on conflicts myself but apparently not enough because the last few conflicts I haven't been lucky at all in terms of getting a single card. I'm hoping my luck changes this time as I really want to boost up the battle wagons as it's getting pretty close to the end here for drops but some rather awesome ones come here at the end!
The upcoming conflict card looks pretty legit as it's a summoner card called Elias Max Pruitt.
Coming Soon Features
Vouchers
There was a heavy push for a while to remove vouchers from the game. I personally feel like this would be a huge negative if it was done and voted against the removal of them. Instead I played the middle ground where there would be a vouchers shop.
While I understand the side of removing vouchers from the game I felt like it was going to do more damage in terms of investors and players feeling like they just got ripped off. This middle ground still provides value for SPS holders and node operators (validators) which I think is important we hold on to as they will be the core groundwork of Splinterland rolling forward.
The voucher rework will remove SPS:Voucher liquidity pools. There were also some mentions of a possible card and some other cool things for vouchers so I'm eager for those!
Land
Land has been on a back burner for a while now. In one way it irritates me but in another I'm looking at it as a chance to start building my lands and getting ready as it's no cheap undertaking. If you want to get in on the land game it's actually super cheap to do so now. I've found plots of land for $10 which is nuts that's $15 cheaper then what they sold for originally so you can bet ya I've been grabbing up even more.
It's funny to me that people will say when there's blood in the streets be greedy but for some reason 90% of those people wont buy Splinterlands assets when they are dirt cheap.
Personally I'm just about to hit my 1 million SPS goal FAR ahead of when I wanted to and at that point I'll be focusing heavy on land and I'm also going to keep you all updated with it!
Onboarding
Onboarding is looking to shape up nicely and it is going to be important for sure. My hopes are that the Spell books offer enough rewards etc for someone to get involved into the game. I'd also like to see spell book levels ranging from $10 - $100 or more in which people can buy in that would give them DEC or other assets at face value at that time to rent or buy assets in the game right away I think that would be a powerful move as $10 is a easy ask for someone to get started in a game especially since it's credit card in most cases so EASY and on top of that you will also have those big players that will buy $100+ right away.
Unbinding cards
Another big change will be unbinding cards. This is a constant battle but one I personally feel is in the right direction. While many will say it's not web3 and that I have to pay to unlock the card I personally don't feel that way. It's still your card, it earns you rewards and plays in your account. If you wish to trade it then you have to unlock it and this is a common thing across all games! I wouldn't even consider it not being a web3 thing to be honest as it is being usd to earn you SPS and glint rewards. So that mindset of it being web2 I think is dumb and is just coming from a place on anger for having lost value on their assets.
Overall I'm excited! There seems to be a lot of cool stuff coming to the game and we got some sneak peak things or at least insights into what else will be coming to the game. The future honestly looks bright for hive and Splinterlands if we can push into 2025.
