Unofficial Splinterlands Museum Of Everyday Love and Life (#USMELL) - Announcements and Artifacts
This is the first in an irregular and unscheduled initiative of posts documenting some of the non-battle related events of everyday life in the Splinterlands.
So much is focused on the battles here in the Splinterlands that it can be hard to remember these creatures also have lives that aren't warring. This will be a series of wedding and birthday invitations, Bar Mitzvah and Quinceañera photos, birth announcements, fashion exposés, tourism pamphlets, government and religious propaganda, love letters, coffee stained poems on napkins, advertisements, articles left on the ground, and other traces of life in the Splinterlands easily forgotten and overlooked in the midst of all the warfare.
Artifact 1:
Burning Lands Death Announcement Card
This is a typical Death Announcement card from the Burning Lands.
Death Announcement Cards became a tradition because all corpses are cremated and scattered to the winds or dumped in molten lava. Graveyards would be covered in ashes and more dead bodies before the graves are filled in. The loved ones of the deceased carry these business card sized memorials with them as reminders. These cards (and death) are so common place in the Burning Lands, that the text is kept short and simple. Most residents have collected so many piles of these cards from loved-ones past that they have begun creating competitive card games with them. Others use the cards in protest actions, mailing them en masse to the generals and rulers of the Burning Lands.
#USMELL Needs You!
Do you have a Splinterlands cologne advertisement or Summoner journal page you think might be a good fit for the Museum Collection? Do you have a great idea for a logo for the Museum? You are welcome to bring these items to our attention to consider for the museum collection curation with the tag #USMELL. As with most of us in the Splinterlands, I will be busy battling, so I do not promise a quick response (or any response!) to the tag, but I am excited to discover what kinds of paraphernalia of everyday life we can dig up together.
If there is enough interest in the museum as demonstrated through revenue coming into the through Upvote, Reblog and Token donations, we will begin offering cards as compensation for relevant content contributions that grow the collection.
