Peakmonsters proposal guide
Hello everyone, lately I found out about the ability to view Splinterlands proposals on Peakmonsters website. As I think those proposals are very important for everyone involved in Splinterlands, I thought to highlight where I found them and how they exactly work. So let's go. But first some information about what this is all about. In the beginning of this year, @splinterlands made an official post to point out the aspect of SPS Governance. SPS what? Well, this means that owners of SPS can create and vote on proposals regarding Splinterlands. This is a usecase of SPS and gives the power to the holders of the token. As the general information is well explained in Splinterlands post, I'll focus here just on the tool on the Peakmonsters website. Feel free to ask questions though if anything wouldn't be clear!
Where to find it on Peakmonsters?
First you have to go to the Peakmonsters website at https://peakmonsters.com/. Than you can open the dropdown menu of explore at the top of your screen. Afterwards, you can click on proposals. Congratulations, you're now in the Proposal area of the Peakmonsters website. This will open the next screen:
Explanation
When looking at the proposals, you can distinguish 2 parts:
- Official proposals: These are proposals made by the Official Splinterlands team
- Community Proposal suggestions: These are proposals made by the community which could lead to an official proposal
So looking at above printscreen, there is no current official proposal running. And there are 3 community proposal suggestions been made.
For each proposal you can view this information:
- Title: What is the proposal about?
- Player: Who made the proposal?
- Created: When is the proposal created? Remember after 7 days the calculations are done and the vote is closed, the same period as upvote rewards on hive.
- Description: Some more information what the proposal is about. Often it's mentioned to check out the blogpost for more details. People who create a proposal, have to create a post explaining what they would like to see changed, how it should be implemented and as much information as possible in regards to the topic.
- SPS Upvote & SPS Downvote: Respectively the amount of upvotes (agreeing with the proposal) and the amount of downvotes (disagreeing with the proposal)
- Approval: The percentage of upvotes against the total amount of votes AND if the minimum amount of total votes is already passed. Remember that the total of the staked SPS in the accounts that upvoted or downvoted the post is at least 5% of the total staked SPS in the system, so at the moment of writing, the votes have to exceed 34.1m SPS.
- Expires: The amount of days left before the end of the proposal. As already stated, proposals are open for 7days.
- Valid fee: Here you can see if the fee paid was valid or not. As explained in the official Splinterlands post, you have to burn 100k dec if you want to create a proposal. This has been done to prevent people from spamming proposals.
So when we look at the current proposals made by community members, we can see that so far they are all going to be passed. Ofcourse, there are still several days before they finish, so it could still change.
Conclusion
In my opinion Peakmonsters does a great job to have this Proposal section on their website. It's very clear, even if it's the first time you hear about Splinterlands proposals. Also the link to the article is available, just click on the proposal and you're redirected to the article explaining the proposal. They really did a great job!
How did I begin to play Splinterlands?
It all began in December 2021, I was a bit bored and was looking for a new game to play on my laptop. After googling a bit, I saw the term play2earn in my google results. I didn't know it at that time but it seemed awesome, earning money while playing games instead of spending money on those games. Soon I learned that play2earn means that you can indeed earn some money to play the games. How does it work? While playing those games, you can earn NFT's of those games. These NFT's can be traded and sold for cryptocurrencies which could be swapped for fiat if you would like to. That's how I started.
Do you want to try out Splinterlands aswell?
