Overview
This week in Battle of the Week we have the Time Mage a 4 mana card from the light splinter that has the slow special ability.
This ability, the main strength of this card, allows us to reduce the speed of the enemies by 1, giving us a great advantage over them.
The reason for this advantage is related to how speed affects both the dodge ability of the cards and, above all, how it affects the attack order.
In the example that I bring you this week you can see how this decrease in speed affects the attack order of the units, giving us an advantage that is essential to our victory.
Rules
Equalizer is usually a good rule to play with the light splinter since this splinter has several powerful cards but with little health which is generally quite detrimental in battle and with this rule we can use them with increased health.
The Battle
My strategy for this battle is to use a Shielbearer in the first position, which is quite common in the light splinter, while I place range cards together with the summoner General Sloan to deal a large amount of damage to my enemy before he can kill my tank.
I also use a healer and of course the time mage as support units. The idea is simple to focus defense and maximize damage.
My enemy decides to use the death splinter properly predicting the use of ranged cards on my part and using the summoner Contessa L'ament which decreases the damage of my ranged units.
He also uses a combination of ranged and melee cards to attack, making it difficult at first glance to predict what the possible outcome of this battle will be.
Formation
Battle Analysis
In my opinion, in a detailed battle analysis it is important to find out if the card we are analyzing really gives us an advantage so that we can then decide whether or not it is worth using it.
In this battle you can see how my tank during the first round takes a lot of damage leaving it at the end of the round only 2 health away from dying, but at the start of round 2 it is healed by my Venari Crystalsmith. And at this point it's important to note that if it wasn't for our Time Mage's slow ability, our enemy's Silent Sha-Vi would have attacked our tank before the Venari Crystalsmith could heal it, killing the tank. Therefore, in this way we can appreciate in this example the usefulness of having a time mage in our attack formation.
After my tank is healed my units kill theirs giving us a huge advantage which allows us to win the rest of the battle.
Conclusion
The slow ability of our time mage is an ability that many times will give us what seems like a small advantage but that later ends up being essential for our victory.
I think that in this week's example you can see one of these situations that although it is not clear at first glance, in a more detailed analysis it shows much more clearly.
See you next week!
