Hi. This is my first entry to Splinterlands contest.
I'd like to take some of your time and quickly go through the process of creating my entry.
It took me a while to choose and decide which card to go with, but finally I settled on Usut. I like dragons :) ( my previous dragon model )
When I was going through Splinterlands cards It made me wonder how some of the characters could look like in motion. I thought it would be an interesting experiment to animate an attack move for a card.
It is also not usual for me to create in a cartoon style so it was also a bit of a nice challenge to try.
I started by 3D modelling the dragon in Blender.
Below you can find a few stages the 3D model went through.
After finishing the 3D modelling part I moved to creating a cartoon shader for the dragon.
Next stage was rigging and animating. Making the fire/laser beam was especially fun thing to do. It broke for me like 3 times, but in the end I am pretty happy with the result.
Last stage of the project was to create grease pencil outlines for the animation and render the whole thing.
I really enjoyed the whole process, especially because I had a chance to use some tools in Blender that I usually don't use. It was a nice learning experience and I hope you like the end result.
And here you can check the final animation.
Would you want card animations implemented in Splinterlands? Or do you think that Splinterland's fast game-play style would make it impossible to fit the card animations in?
I am curious of your opinion.
Sorry for a double post. I uploaded my video to 3Speak and I am not sure if that counts as a normal HIVE post or not.
