Introduction
I hope everyone is keeping cool and having a great start to the week. I just returned from a morning bike ride, have a cup of coffee by my side, and am excited to play some Splinterlands and look at some brawls.
I didn't do particularly well in brawls this week. But that's the beauty of these reports; I get the chance to reflect and analyze my mistakes with you, and hopefully do better in the next brawl!
I'll begin this post with a brief update on my Splinterlands season. Then we'll move on to a report on my seventh brawl with the Hive Pizza Guild: PIZZA 1 The Stuffed Crust. Last, we'll finish this post with my 6th Card Giveaway and the announcement of the winner of Giveaway #4!
Onwards!
Play Update
I have continued playing in the new Modern format and remain in Silver 2. I have been enjoying exploring the new changes related to the daily focus and 2 day minimum for rentals. I have had to adjust my play style for sure.
I've been used to renting a single Splinter for 24 hours related to my daily focus. Now, I am looking to rent from multiple splinters. I think this makes the game more interesting. I can look at the ruleset and approach the battle in the most efficient way and get to play with a wider variety of cards in a play session.
My recent chest rewards are nothing to write home about, but I still like to share them. In my last report, I share the same number of silver chests from another session that was valued much higher. So it's interesting to see the variation.
I've continued to submit bounties to our Pizza Guild's Bounty Notice Board which continues to be a ton of fun. At the time of writing, I've submitted seven bounties which has earned me 2,300 CP in card delegations and 7 PIZZA.
Guild Brawl Report
I am excited to present the report of my seventh brawl with my amazing guild:
In my last brawl, I played the the Novice Frey with all cards playable, which I was a bit nervous about, but ended up shattering my win record winning 6/9 matches.
In this brawl, I go back to Frey 2 with Novice League level caps and all cards playable from Chaos Edition. I thought the limitation of Chaos Edition would work to my benefit, but I end up doing pretty poorly, winning only a few matches. Let's try to figure out why.
Brawl Link #1🔮 Mana Cap: 17 | ❗️Rulesets: Noxious Fumes |
---|---|
A brutal defeat, my opponent does not use any gladiator cards. By round 2 it's Diemonshark vs my Xulax and Shavi. Unfortunately, Xulax's bloodlust doesn't get a chance to trigger, Shavi misses a crucial hit and the shark wins! Result: Loser❌ |
Brawl Link #2🔮 Mana Cap: 24 | ❗️Rulesets: Equalizer, Earthquake |
---|---|
I go without flying creatures, despite the Earthquake ruleset. I thought with Equalizer I'd be ok, but was wrong. Quara Towershead's heal and damage is too much to handle. I definitely made errors in my lineup on this one. Result: Loser❌ |
[Brawl Link #3] No Link Available 🔮 Mana Cap: NA | ❗️Rulesets: NA |
---|---|
A win is a win I guess. But I take no pride in this. I would have rather played the match and lost. Opponent Fled. Result: ✅ |
Brawl Link #4🔮 Mana Cap: 28 | ❗️Rulesets: Noxious Fumes,Taking Sides |
---|---|
This is the second brawl with the Noxious Fumes Ruleset, again I do nothing to mitigate the poison damage and that's my downfall. From previous brawl reports I note I've made this mistake a lot. Lesson learned. Result: Loser❌ |
Brawl Link #5🔮 Mana Cap: 34 | ❗️Rulesets: Weak Magic, Odd Ones Out |
---|---|
My opponent does not use a Gladiator card, but still fields a strong team that I feel good about beating. This is a good 12 round fight. I've been experimenting recently with the combo of Guardian heal and repair abilities from the Merdaali Guardian and Scavo. It worked well here. Result: Winner ✅ |
Brawl Link #6🔮 Mana Cap: 50 | ❗️Rulesets: Equal Opportunity, Even Stevens |
---|---|
For the second time in this brawl I get defeated by Obsidian and Quara Towershead's devastating magic damage. Again I play Fire. I don't have a lot of experience playing Fire and need to study more lineups. Result: Loser❌ |
Brawl Link #7🔮 Mana Cap: 50 | ❗️Rulesets: Healed Out, Odd Ones Out |
---|---|
My opponent and I had similar but slighty different approaches which made for another good nail-biter of a fight. Luckily I squeak in another victory in the end. But I don't think I utilized Xulax correctly as they died before bloodlust could trigger. Result: Winner ✅ |
Brawl Link #8🔮 Mana Cap: 19 | ❗️Rulesets: Target Practice |
---|---|
Props to my opponent. They fielded a much stronger team, my side get's knocked out pretty quick. I haven't played Grandmaster Rathe yet. I seem to lose a lot of matches when he's used so should consider renting him for brawls. Result: Loser❌ |
I won three out of eight brawls. This felt like a small setback after doing fairly well in the last brawl. In reviewing the above matches, I think I overplayed Chimney Wallstop and Xulax, hoping to brute force a win. This didn't work out well.
- I need to spend more time studying the rulesets and strategizing an approach for common appearances like: Noxious Fumes and Earthquake.
- I need to gain more experience with Grandmaster Rathe
- Quara Towershead is on my wishlist, Splintergods here me and grant me this pull on my next pack!
I can't wait til the next brawl and excited to see if regain my honor and get some wins for my guild!
Courage!
