Good night hive! Triz here again
I was doing a couple of things and as I said a few days ago I wanted to participate in the @steemmonsters contest so I selected a card which seemed interesting to me, I liked the story a lot. But, I couldn't do it, I was busy and I didn't have time😞.
Last night I was finishing something else but I paused it, because since I couldn't do the design I wanted, I wanted to try with the portrait of the girl you see today, as it was easier and according to me it gave me a chance to Do it before the end of the contest. I got to work on it and I think I went to sleep at 7:00 or 7:30am lol.
I haven't participated in a long time, today I realize that I couldn't make the design I wanted or participate in the contest, since I messed up and didn't check the time the contest ended. I was confident that it would be until 12:00 am in my country, so when the drawing was finally ready, I went to check the exact time in the contest publication and nooooo I was unlucky! the contest had ended half an hour before 😣😖😩. I imagine it will be for the next week😜.
The good news is that for this drawing today, which I did today lol, I do have a step by step. So I'll give you a little tour of what the creation process was..
The first thing I did was find the position that I liked, I made several changes and this was the one that stayed, my sketches are not usually that clean unless I want it that way for some specific reason, since lineart is not something I usually do do, I didn't worry about that bunch of stripes.
A simple position that was subject to change, that's why I don't pay much attention to the sketch, but even so, I already had an idea of how it would be.
😁
The design of the card has a lot of potential and I would have liked to have had a little more time to do the details that I wanted to the armor ohh and include the sword which represents something very important to her. But, well, it couldn't lol.
After I had added the base colors on a layer below the sketch, I started working on another layer on top of it and made the clothes, for this I used a hard brush with some texture.
I don't know why, but I almost always start drawing by making the clothes first, so that's why here at this point you can still see the crazy lines a little bit.
😆
Now it's time to do some skin, initially I wanted the whole portrait to have some texture that wouldn't look so smooth, so when I was doing the face I used a hard but non-textured brush.
Everything I was adding was on top of the sketch layer and the base color layer, all separate, so the clothes went on top of the skin layer and what I had had hair up to that point went on top of the previous.
😉
After I had the skin ready I changed my mind and used a soft brush to remove those streaks left by the hard brush. She already had eyes, I imagine she was grateful for that, so she was watching me from that moment until I finished.
I wanted to make the skin a little desaturated, I even avoided putting so much shine on the skin, that doesn't look bad in some drawings, but it wasn't what I was looking for in this one since the hair, I think, is made of fire would give it some light to the skin but without exaggerating so much.
😏
As I said before the sketch is subject to changes, I didn't like where the arm was so I changed it. When I made the clothes everything was a little thick and when I was about to fall asleep it seemed fine to me, since I usually make the armor like this for the characters. But when I went back to drawing hours later I didn't like it anymore, so I wanted those details of the suit to be finer and brighter, because of the material. To finish that off, I added a texture to the clothes.
At this point it didn't look like the girl had fire hair because she had only done a few strands to have it as a base.
😄
Here ends our little tour of the creation of the portrait of this character.
This is the final result
