Hello, Splinterlands friends and community! Today, we’re diving into one of my experienced battles with poisoned melee brawls. Every melee fighter in the battle is under the influence of poison because of rule set given NOXIOUS FUMES, turning each encounter into a battle of pure endurance and resilience. It’s a test of survival, strategy, and melee power. Only the strongest cards and most cunning lineups make it through in this match. Want to learn how to keep your team strong, even in the toughest situations? Let's discover strategies to stay ahead in these interesting battles I will share today.!

Set-up Plan Strategy

The rule set given is UP CLOSED & PERSONAL only melee units will be available in this battle MANEUVERS All units receive an ability of Reach, NOXIOUS FUMES all units will poisoned at the start of the match, and 53 mana-cap with Earth and Death elements are the only inactive elements and other elements are useable in this battle. My plan would utilize the dragon element combo with the life element. I will try to use Vruz for martyrs' ability and the rest will be using the Healing or Endurance strategy. I expect that the opponent will use the dragon element with Lily Shieldpaw summoner which will help its durability and endurance in most of the rounds, I didn't want to use sneak strategy in this match because most of my sneak and opportunity units are low health making it easily be executed in early rounds because of poison. Melee battle is what I would prioratize in this battle.

My Lineup

Summoner - Lily Shieldpaw

This summoner is helpful in terms of the abilities it gives, the Triage which will heal my backlines per round, and Camouflage for the opponent won't be attacking my backlines which only attacks in first position.

First Position - Arkemis the Bear

As my tank, Arkemis the Bear stands proud in the frontline. With Protect for added armor, Halving to weaken incoming damage, Forcefield to deflect heavy hits, and Enrage to boost its strength as it’s hit, Arkemis absorbs and hopefully dodges some attacks.

Second Position - Blinding Reflector

I put this in second position because of the difference in health which will then be easily executed by rule set NOXIOUS FUMES, putting this position it be useful for at least 3-4 rounds with abilities Magic Reflect and Blind.

Third Position - Imperial Knight

Imperial Knight is the first of our healing strategy, chosen for its Healing, Void Armor, and Magic Reflect. These abilities make it tough to bring down, even in the face of NOXIOUS FUMES. Positioned here, it helps us control the battlefield by enduring attacks and returning damage before it goes to my Uriel.

Fourth Position - Vruz

I put this in the fourth position to act as strategically placed to be sacrificed early and give an increased stats boost to Uriel and Imperial Knight by 1. With its high-speed stat of 7, Vruz gets in a quick attack before falling. This sacrifice is intentional, setting us up for a strong mid-game advantage.

Fifth Position - Uriel

Uriel is my second healer and one of my endgame strengths, positioned here to take advantage of the Healing ability. With Recharge to deal powerful bursts of damage, Flying for an added chance of dodge attacks, and Redemption to deal a final blow when it falls, this unit helps extend the life of our lineup as we head into the late rounds.

Last Position - Drybone Raider

Finally, Drybone Raider brings ranged support from my backline. Its Double Strike, Shatter, and Cripple abilities make it invaluable for damaging bit by bit at tougher enemies, breaking through armor, and reducing enemy health stats. In the last position, it’s free to deliver extra damage.

Analyzing the battle

The opponent seems to have chosen Quix the Devious summoner, deployed overpowered Inevitable and Agor Longtail, with sneak strategy. Inevitable and Agor Longtail alone makes it harder to win because of its abilities to survive and hard to defeat. Though I didn't expect that the opponent didn't use Lily Sheildpaw instead of Quix the Devious. Based on the opponent line-up it is well positioned utilizing Inevitable as a tank and Agor Longtail which is also a tank but can attack in second position because of Maneuvers rule set. The opponent overpowered me in all stats and abilities but in terms of endurance, I hope I have luck with my Imperial Knight and Uriel for endurance with NOXIOUS FUMES.

As the battle progresses I can already see the difference in the cards left. My Drybone Raider is having a hard time defeating Agor Longtail and my Imperial Knight has been defeated, In this battle the opponent has a greater chance of winning this match.

Until my Drybone Raider has been positioned in second position, It makes a decent amount of damage with Uriel to the opponent Inevitable and defeats it. I was lucky that my Uriel attack didn't miss, if it missed then I would a guaranteed losing this match. Had the opponent used Lily Sheildpaw summoner, the outcome could have been different, but my strategic setup prevailed. My victory shows the importance of maximizing the abilities and anticipating the opponent's playstyle for a winning strategy.
