Who knows Harry Potter? I watched all the movies and read all the books when I was still in school. I even played the Harry Potter computer game!

And after so many years... I won't mention the exact number... Harry Potter has once again burst into my life!

Harry Potter in bookstores

I don’t know what’s causing all this hype, but Harry Potter-related things are everywhere in Korea. Bookstores have entire sections filled with everything imaginable and unimaginable. Books, wands, Quidditch gear, scarves, Harry Potter-themed tarot cards, pens, notebooks, and much more!

We even have a café styled after Platform 9 3/4. Although it opened a long time ago, its popularity hasn’t faded. Sometimes, the queue to get in takes about an hour!

Harry Potter in Starbucks

But perhaps the biggest and loudest Harry Potter-related news recently was the event by Starbucks! At the beginning of the year, Starbucks released a limited-edition Harry Potter collection. This included tote bags, keychains, tumblers, mugs, and other small items. Out of all these, the mugs caused the biggest craze! First, each Starbucks branch only received about 2-3 mugs. Second, customers were only allowed to buy 1-2 mugs per person! So, all the mugs sold out within minutes! And while the original price was around $25, resellers were selling them for $100.

I don't have a photo of the Harry Potter mug from Starbucks, so now you know that either I am not a fan or I am just not so lucky to be among the first 3 people who arrived at Starbucks that day...

What’s so special about this mug, besides the fact that it has a Harry Potter design? It changes colour! Initially, it's black, but when you pour hot water into it, it reveals the colour and emblem of the Hogwarts house you belong to! A cool idea!

Besides it, of course, there were Harry Potter cakes and drinks!

So, now you know a great way to make some money :)
