I can confidently, happily, and boldly tell you, my dear reader, that technology is making us less social. When I was much younger, I was more of a non-social person, meaning I didnāt go out much.
I prefer the comfort of my room, where I can read, write, and do other stuff I need to get done. Most times, my siblings and friends often drag me out to play.
As I grew older, I had to travel to places to study, work, etc. With the advent of technology, you can obtain any degree in the comfort of your room, work remotely, and even have virtual access to different places in the world without leaving the comfort of your home.
For ambiverts like me, itās easier to tilt to the introverted side of my being with the advent of technology. Sometimes we even schedule meetings online instead of meeting in person. I wouldnāt say the development technology has brought is good or bad, but I am sure it has made life easier for all and sundry.
For example, the money youāll spend on getting data to participate in an online meeting will be way cheaper than what youāll spend on transportation if you were to convey yourself to a location for the meeting.
Technology is making us less social because we can get all things done without stepping out, and when you step out, you can actually socialize with others. Iām not talking about chats where you are not even sure of the person youāre talking with; I'm talking about meeting people one-on-one.
