The Romania List: June 2024

Introduction

After doing a list of Hivers in Ghana yesterday I had a request from @heruvim1978 to do Romania.

I did some queries to compile this initial list, but I am sure I have missed lots of people with less obvious locations on their profile. This can act as a starting point for others to build the list. The file is on Github along with the code.

Commentary

This is not showing many people active for now, but I am sure there are more. I have not been to Romania, but I have worked with people based there and I know they are clued up on computers.

I just broke it down between the capital Bucharest and the rest of the country as I do not know how people are distributed or what the major areas would be. That requires local knowledge.

I did not find any witnesses there.

I am happy for others to take over managing this list.

Yes. That is easy to automate, but local knowledge can help expand the list.

I will not re-generate the post for now as it just notifies everyone again.

The list is at https://github.com/steevc/hivescripts/blob/main/Lists/romania.txt. You could download it to edit and send it back to me if you want. The script depends on the beem library, but is otherwise simple to run.

Thank you @steevc for bringing forward these new people from Romania, honestly I only know a few of them and of course I keep in touch with them, but from now on I managed to discover some new people from my country.
I honestly thought there were more hivers from Romania here, but new accounts will definitely come here.
I am proud that in a few months (October) I will celebrate three years since I discovered the beauty of this community.
I hope that one day the community in Romania will do as many beautiful things as the community in Ghana.

I've not done one and I'm not aware that anyone else has. It will be a bigger job as I think there could be a few hundred people. I am happy to help someone else start it off.

There used to be a nice and quite big community of Romanians somewhere in 2017-2018. Sadly most of them were gone when Steem/hive started to confront with financial struggle for the coins.

Some of the active ones came a bit later and won't understand my comment properly, but as a veteran on here, I am happy to get to discover some new Romanians I had no clue were on here. Let's hope one day there will be more of us and also determined to do things at least as big as the community from Ghana does. We definitely have the power to!
