No podía despedir el año sin hacer al menos un dibujo sencillo y rápido, así que pensando en la temporada en la que estamos busqué algo de inspiración y terminé haciendo dos cartas navideñas bastante simples de hacer. Me gustó el resultado así que quise compartir por aquí cómo las hice
I couldn't say goodbye to the year without making at least one simple and quick drawing, so thinking about the season we are in I looked for some inspiration and ended up making two Christmas cards that were quite simple to make. I liked the result so I wanted to share here how I made them

Primero tomamos la cartulina y hacemos las líneas guías. Decidí hacer una carta con una frase en inglés y otra en español. Para la que estaría en inglés el diseño sería minimalista; hice unas luces de navidad coloridas así que esas fueron las líneas guías que tracé. El diseño lo busqué en Google.
First of all we take the cardboard and make the guide lines. I decided to make a card with a sentence in English and another in Spanish. For the one that would be in English, the design I choose was minimalistic; I made some colorful Christmas lights so those were the guide lines I drew. I searched for the design on Google.

Primero hice las líneas guía para la frase de manera de seguirlas para que las letras quedaran derechas, también hice unas líneas curvas que van de extremo a extremo de la cartulina que sería el cable de las luces.
Después hice los pequeños bombillos, primero haciendo la base con dos líneas un poco curvas y paralelas. Luego en la parte superior de esas líneas hice una forma como una especie de hongo que sería el bombillo como tal. Quedaron así:
First I made the guide lines for the phrase so I could follow them so that the letters were straight, I also made some curved lines that go from end to end of the cardboard and that would be the cable for the lights.
Then I made the small bulbs, first making the base with two slightly curved and parallel lines. Then on the top of those lines I made a shape like a kind of mushroom that would be the bulb itself. Like this:

Después tracé las líneas guías de la frase que deseaba colocar (traducida al español dice algo como: «Que tus días sean felices y brillantes»), y comencé a delinear los bordes del dibujo con marcadores de colores, para así poder borrar las líneas guías luego y que el dibujo quedara más limpio
Then I drew the guide lines of the phrase I wanted to use and then I began to outline the edges of the drawing with colored markers, so that I can erase the guide lines later and the drawing will be cleaner.

Una vez listo comencé a colorear los bombillos con colores festivos, llamativos. Para agregarle luz a los colores, coloqué con lápiz corrector unas pequeñas manchas blancas que le dan ese toque de luz. De último repasé las letras con color negro y el resultado de esta tarjeta fue mi favorito. Es minimalista y simple, eso me encanta.
Once ready, I began to color the light bulbs with bright, festive colors. To add light to the colors, I placed some small white spots with a corrector pencil that give it that spark of light. Lastly I went over the letters with black color and the result of this card was my favorite. It's minimalistic and simple, I love that.

Para la segunda tarjeta el procedimiento fue el mismo. Encontré una referencia online, tracé las líneas guías con lápiz, repasé los bordes con marcador y terminé de colorear, agregando la frase esta vez en español. El detalle más distintivo es que agregué círculos de colores como decoración. Esta tarjeta tiene muchos más elementos por lo que no es minimalista pero de todas formas me parece que resultó bonita y llamativa.
Snoopy era uno de mis personajes favoritos de pequeña, por eso me apeteció dibujarlo.
For the second card the process was the same. I found a reference online, traced the guide lines with a pencil, went over the edges with marker and finished coloring, adding the phrase this time in Spanish (which in English translates to "merry Christmas"). The most distinctive detail is that I added colored circles as decoration. This card has many more elements so it is not minimalistic but I still think it turned out pretty and eye-catching.
Snoopy was one of my favorite cartoon when I was little, that's why I wanted to draw it.
