Paragliding Inkler's Twice, Trailer, Grass Elimination, Tilling, Readers, Coop Door - Thursday

After dropping the boys at school yesterday I headed back up to Chewelah to get some flights in. I was at the LZ by 9am but we hung out for a while waiting for the winds to pickup.

Kevin brought his porosity checker and was doing tests on people's wings.

I got tired of waiting and put my stuff on my back and began the hike to the top.

The road can be walked or like me I take the off road paths.

I got to the top and quickly got setup as the winds were working.

I had a rather good flight, short, but still really good. I flew along the ridge all the way north past the old launch, farther than I have flown the ridge before. I had no idea if I could make it all the way to the LZ from my turn around point but I was majorly surprised when I made it.

This was where I turned around and headed back towards the LZ which can just be seen in the left strip of grass. I felt like I was high enough but I also had oodles of landing options if I came up short.

I came in over the quarry at a still good height and I was sure I would make the LZ at this point.

I was super stoked to have enough glide to stomp my feet down in the mowed runway strip.

And I even dropped my wing down on it's trailing edge.

After my flight Kevin emptied stuff out of his truck and drove a load of us back up the hill.

They were talking and watching the winds but it was nearing noon and I had to get in my second flight so I setup and soon was off.

Dumb camera didn't work so no pics but here is the track logs. I had flown out and back and was gliding along the trees next to the LZ when my wing paused and it shot over my head and I went into a a bit of a dive which I rolled with and pulled out of to the right and flew out over the end of the LZ where I got a couple of higher speed turns before a nice smooth landing.

I got packed up quickly and soon was headed for home.

IMG_20240606_122113.jpg

I picked the boys up from school then once home got the trailer hooked up for the grain run I will be doing this morning.

IMG_20240606_152246.jpg

I was out in the garden and I figured it was time to deal with the strawberry area. I grabbed the weedeater and used it to cut the grass and weeds down to soil level. It worked like a charm with the head turned on the side.

IMG_20240606_161652.jpg

The whole area got cut nice and short.

IMG_20240606_161909.jpg

Then I ran the tiller up and down it which drug tons of grass roots up. I have a shit ton of raking to do to remove the roots and I was thinking I might as well stuff tons of potatoes in the area to grow since the potatoes are getting too soft in storage.

IMG_20240606_163024.jpg

I stopped for about 5 minutes on the board and managed a nice double double.

IMG_20240606_165521.jpg

While @stryeyz was at her bible study the boys sat on the couch and read side by side.

IMG_20240606_193814.jpg

Got out to soak later than normal and the boys joined for once.

IMG_20240606_204409.jpg

Then I remembered that I had to close the coop door since in the morning I had noticed they were not out after 7am and when I looked the wire had broken that opens the door. I didn't get to the repair so had to manually close the door. I will go open it in about 20 minutes. I will figure out a fix for it today sometime.

IMG_20240606_212607.jpg

No flying today as the winds are shit so it is a farm day. Mid morning I am going to town to pickup a load of grain and also heading up to the south hill to get the paragliding books I am buying. I will unload the grain, work in the gardens, pickup boys after school, cut grass around the farm, then get a fire going to grill for dinner.
