Of the three of these Florins that exist, two were found in the Tyne river in 1857 nearly five centuries later! Such an example shows that there may be many treasures out there hidden in he world. Although challenging to find and fairly well hidden somewhere. Last one sold for $850,000. The last one found was in 2006, less than two decades ago.

1787 Brasher Doubloon (EB)

The Brasher Doubloon is one of the most valuable gold coins, and even collectibles, in the world. Last sold in 2021 for $9 million.

$850,000! To think that the Tyne river would be scoured for more lost gold coins by now. I'd love to get a genuine Spanish pillar dollar with only a few clean Chinese chop marks otherwise I collect replica, replica and fantasy pirate silver.
