I have been a bit absent from posting about my new Silver acquisition but I am still active around! I have been posting some Silver billions from different series which usually have 1 or more new billions minted through the year. Today isn't going to be different. This collection is called the Jolly Roger Flags. These are coins that try to bring some pirate culture. Every Pirate had its own characteristic Jolly Roger. I love pirates and thought this bullion is interesting in different aspects. Happy Powe Up day by the way. Just made another power up this month, today it was 50 Hive only but still is something towards my goal.
The collection is minted by the European Mint, which I just learned about. I saw the Blackbeard bullion selling on eBay, but I have never found a good price to buy it. Then I saw the new 2024 Jolly Roger bullion being sold at Royal Bullion for a price closer to the spot by 44 CAD. So I bought it. However, I still need the 2023, the Blackbeard one, and the 2022. The current 2024 brings Black Sam's while the 2022 brings Calico Jack's. In addition, I liked a lot about the background of the coin which looks like it is flapping like a real flag. The mint located in Estonia, a European country, basically mints only coins for Niue which is a Pacific Ocean Island. They don't have many collections running around, but I noticed some billions that I saw around such as the Welsh Dragon.
Blackbeard is my favorite pirate, I don't know why. So I have been trying to get it for a while. This week I saw someone on Facebook selling both Calico Jack and Blackbeard for less than 100 CAD which was a nice price. But let's go with my acquisition. The Black Sam Jolly Roger looks like the classical pirate flag that we see in Cartoons. A human skull with two crossing bones. Sam actually was Samuel Bellany, a British sailor who decided to turn into a pirate. In the end, he was known as the wealthiest pirate ever recorded according to Wikipedia . I tried to find a special meaning for this Jolly Roger, but there isn't. It looks like this format is the traditional pirate flag with the Death meaning. I think that Blackbeard and Calico Jack were more creative and decided to do something different like the figure above.
The coin mintage is 15,000 which doesn't bring so much rarity. The Obverse brings the value of 2 New Zealand Dollars, the coin used at Niue and the country's seal. The country has nice neighbors with nice coin collections as well such as Cook Islands and Samoa. A nice place to visit and relax probably with beautiful coral reefs and beaches. There is a certain mint "fight" for who these Polynesian countries will choose as their mint I guess. I don't know how it works but I see they changing a lot. For Nieue I thought that the New Zealand mint was the only one responsible for their coins since they have a political connection, and also they already mint some coins for the country, such as the famous Hawksbill turtle.
Anyways, I would love to get all the coins of this collection, probably shortly, who knows. There are other collections that I keep my eye on and I just want to avoid spending a lot on the spot. For now, I am happy that I could get this coin.
Tenho estado um pouco ausente de postar sobre minha nova aquisição de Prata, mas ainda estou ativo por aí! Tenho postado alguns bilhões de Prata de diferentes séries que geralmente têm 1 ou mais novos bilhões cunhados ao longo do ano. Hoje não vai ser diferente. Esta coleção é chamada de Jolly Roger Flags. Estas são moedas que tentam trazer um pouco da cultura pirata. Cada Pirata tinha seu próprio Jolly Roger característico. Eu amo piratas e achei este lingote interessante em diferentes aspectos. Feliz dia do Power Up, a propósito. Acabei de fazer outro power up este mês, hoje foram apenas 50 Hive, mas ainda é algo em direção ao meu objetivo.
A coleção é cunhada pela Casa da Moeda Europeia, sobre a qual acabei de saber. Vi o ouro em barras Blackbeard sendo vendido no eBay, mas nunca encontrei um bom preço para comprá-lo. Então vi o novo ouro em barras Jolly Roger 2024 sendo vendido na Royal Bullion por um preço mais próximo do preço de mercado em 44 CAD. Então comprei. No entanto, ainda preciso do 2023, do Blackbeard e do 2022. O atual 2024 traz Black Sam's enquanto o 2022 traz Calico Jack's. Além disso, gostei muito do fundo da moeda que parece estar balançando como uma bandeira de verdade. A casa da moeda localizada na Estônia, um país europeu, basicamente cunha apenas moedas para Niue, que é uma ilha do Oceano Pacífico. Eles não têm muitas coleções por aí, mas notei alguns bilhões que vi por aí, como o Dragão Galês.

Barba Negra é meu pirata favorito, não sei por quê. Então, estou tentando obtê-lo há um tempo. Esta semana, vi alguém no Facebook vendendo Calico Jack e Barba Negra por menos de 100 CAD, o que foi um bom preço. Mas vamos com a minha aquisição. O Black Sam Jolly Roger parece a bandeira pirata clássica que vemos nos desenhos animados. Um crânio humano com dois ossos cruzados. Sam na verdade era Samuel Bellany, um marinheiro britânico que decidiu se transformar em um pirata. No final, ele ficou conhecido como o pirata mais rico já registrado, de acordo com a Wikipedia . Tentei encontrar um significado especial para este Jolly Roger, mas não há. Parece que este formato é a bandeira pirata tradicional com o significado da Morte. Acho que Barba Negra e Calico Jack foram mais criativos e decidiram fazer algo diferente, como a figura acima.
A cunhagem da moeda é 15.000, o que não traz tanta raridade. O Anverso traz o valor de 2 dólares neozelandeses, a moeda usada em Niue e o selo do país. O país tem bons vizinhos com boas coleções de moedas, como Ilhas Cook e Samoa. Um bom lugar para visitar e relaxar, provavelmente com belos recifes de corais e praias. Há uma certa "briga" de cunhagem para quem esses países polinésios escolherão como sua casa da moeda, eu acho. Não sei como funciona, mas vejo que eles mudam muito. Para Nieue, pensei que a casa da moeda da Nova Zelândia era a única responsável por suas moedas, já que eles têm uma conexão política e também já cunham algumas moedas para o país, como a famosa tartaruga Hawksbill.
De qualquer forma, eu adoraria obter todas as moedas desta coleção, provavelmente em breve, quem sabe. Há outras coleções que estou de olho e só quero evitar gastar muito na hora. Por enquanto, estou feliz por poder obter esta moeda.
