I have been very actively searching for a nice Silver with a good price. Especially in the Facebook groups. It is challenging I would say, sometimes you think to yourself "I won't buy anything in the next week", but then something at a good price appears. I have been very attracted by CIT mint metals, but for now, I haven't bought any of them since Thecoinshoppe is the one who usually sells them. There is usually a big premium associated with these metals. But someone decided to sell their 1 Oz 2024 Snow Leopard from Mongolia. The original price that was sold in Thecoinshoppe was 129.90 CAD. The coin is beautiful in high relief using CIT smart minting technology. The user decided to create an auction. A user offered 109, so I decided to enter that with 110 (around 81 USD), and in the end, I got it.
The user selling it has a nice reputation in the community and it was a great deal despite the cost being more than twice compared to a regular 1 Oz of silver. However, the mintage of this coin is only 2,500 pieces and it is a nice silver to be in my stack. I found it on eBay for 123 USD just now, or 168 CAD converted. The coin is so amazing that it is difficult to show all the amazingness through pictures, so I recorded a video where you can check the details of this coin. This is part of the series of Wild Mongolia. Each ear CIT mint an animal found in Mongolia. This is the 5th edition, the 2023 had for example a Mongolian Falcon.
Snow leopards are from the genus Panthera, the same found Leopards, Jaguars Lions and Tigers. They are only found in Asia, usually in regions of the Pamir mountains, Hymalaia, and Mongolia. Like their cousins, it is a carnivore animal that is a top-chain predator. The mint usually makes different versions of the coin in every release. More specifically 6: 0.5 g and 1oz Gold, 3 in Silver ( 1, 2 and 3 oz) and 1 Oz Copper. The coin is slightly colored which is a bit against what I usually buy since I focus only on colored Silver/Gold. But in this case, it brings some value for the coin creating beautiful details to it. The face value of the coins is 500 Togrog, which is also known as Tugrik. Around 3,450 Togrog is equivalent to 1 USD. The coin came into a capsule in a beautiful box with the Certificate. The Obverse of the coin has a snow leopard's paw with the year 2024 while the reverse of the coin has the animal's face in high relief and colored by side of a regular image of the animal.
This type of purchase is going to be rare in my stack, for now the most expensive 1 Oz was that dinosaur skull that cost 69 CAD. I am still trying to maintain my shopping very close to the spot. This Facebook group is nice and I have been meeting people and understanding more about this investment. I changed a bit for example my opinion about gold grams by the way. The premium is more costly but they are easy to re-sell especially 1 gram of gold. You can buy 1 gram of gold between 120-140 CAD but it is not difficult to find a buyer that will offer this high premium. So for sure thinking about long-term holding buying ounces can be better, but still, these gold grams are easier to re-sell compared to 1 Oz of gold, who will have 3,000 CAD in their pocket to buy it in the moment anyway?
