Stacking silver has been a passion of mine whenever I get the time to do so. But one piece holds a special place in my heart. So here's a short piece to get the ball rolling.
1966 Australian 50c Piece
In 1966, decimal currency was released in Australia, replacing the pounds and pennys inherited from Ye Old England. The first 50c piece was 80% Silver and 20% Copper and featured a round edge.

In 1969, the coin was released with a dodecagonal shape and was made from 75% Copper and 25% Nickel. The price of the silver in the original coin, far outstripped the value of the coin at 50c.
I have one of the precious 1966 coins in my collection which now retail for around the $15 mark. This coin was given to me by my Nan just before she passed away. Its sentimental value is worth more than any money so this piece will be handed down to my kids.
