Year of The Snake 🐍

It's a new year and that means that it's time for a new era of silver coins.
The Perth Mint from Australia took this pretty seriously though as they adopted the Chinese Lunatic Calendar and released a coin that is impressive in its simplicity.

2025 Australian Year of the Snake 1 Ounce Silver Coin 🐍

CONTEXT

According to Chinese folklore, the snake was awarded it's place as the 6th animal in the zodiac die to it's cunning and sharp mind.
According to the story, the Emperor, devised a means to determine the order of the animals in the zodiac, hosted The Great Race. A race were animals would compete to secure their position.
Thus with it's cleverness, the snake got sixth and those born in 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025 and every 12th preceding year is said to have the snakes quality of wisdom and cleverness.

Since it is 2025 and an actual year of the snake, the Perth Mint had no reason not to bring out the year of the snake as part of their Lunar III series.

The coins reverse shows an intricately detailed illustration of a coiled snake lying underneath hanging leaves. This symbolizes wisdom and patience.
It also has the Chinese Character for "Snake", "Snake 2025" and the Perth Mint's "P" which showcases authenticity.

The obverse shows us nothing interesting. Just the head of Ol' King Charles III, then the Monetary Denomination, some details about the coins constitution and the country of issuance.

This coin is a really nice coin. A troy ounce of silver in a coin of thickness 3.50mm and diameter 40.90mm and still has an affordable price below $50.00
I feel it's a nice investment because since the coin was released this year, in subsequent years it's probable to double or triple in price.💰

That's a beautiful coin and it's good to learn some Chinese history through this :)

No kidding! Since it's the Year of the Snake in the lunar calendar, the Perth Mint took full advantage of the opportunity to release their Lunar III series coins featuring the snake design. And they sure didn’t disappoint – those coins look stunning, @seki!
