I have gifted the Lunar Year of the Mouse and the Lunar Year of the Ox to special friends on separate occasions. While I don't regret giving them away, I am finding it difficult to replace them.
I finally found the 1/0 oz Gold Australian Lunar Year of the Ox coin
which is a great relief. However, my search for the Lunar Year of the Mouse coin continues. If anyone happens to come across one, I would be extremely grateful if you could inform me. Your assistance in helping me complete my collection would mean a great deal to me.
Premium
Naturally, the price isn't the same as it was back in 2021 when I initially purchased the gold Lunar Year of the Ox coin. Over time, the value of such coins tends to increase due to their rarity and demand. Additionally, given that the coin was issued four years ago, I now have to pay a premium to acquire it. This additional cost is a result of both its increased market value and the premium associated with obtaining a past issue. Collectors often face these challenges, especially when seeking to complete or replace items in their collections.
Coin Highlights:
- Coins arrive in an individual acrylic capsule or a sealed roll of 20 coins.
- 2nd coin release in the Lunar Series III collection.
- Contains 1/10 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold in BU condition.
- Issued a face value of $15 (AUD) by Australia.
- The obverse features Queen Elizabeth II.
- On the reverse is a male ox with bamboo stalks around the field.
- Artwork from Ing Ing Jong.

I'm particularly concerned
because the Lunar Year of the Mouse coin is the inaugural issue in the new Lunar Series III collection. It holds significant value as the first coin in the series. Furthermore, it was available with unlimited mintage only through the end of 2020. This limited availability makes it even more challenging to find now, as collectors who managed to get their hands on it during that period are likely holding onto it due to its importance in the collection. The fact that it's the first in the series adds to its rarity and desirability, making my search for this coin even more pressing.
Oh well, if I can't find it, it's my own loss.
Sometimes, we have to accept that we might not always get what we want, despite our best efforts. While it would be great to complete my collection with the Lunar Mouse coin, I understand that it's challenging to find such a rare piece. I'll continue searching, but if it doesn't work out, I'll move forward and appreciate the valuable coins I do have.
