My Introduction To the SGS Community - 𝗥𝗜𝗣 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗚 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿

The OG Stacker

Yeah, I admit.
I have been lurking around this community for a long time.
Looking at all your shiny stuff, all your polished possessions, wondering do I fit in?

Now Whywhy is that you may wonder.
Well, it is kinda simple, I am not the OG Stacker.

As the title says the OG stacker is no longer walking on this floating rock we call Earth.

He went to hopefully greener pastures early in 2021, and I don´t know much about his stacking spirit.
Nor do I know why he split his stack between a good friend and me.

This good friend btw sold his stack recently to pay for a renovation, but more about that in a bit.

The OG Stacker Vision

The OG Stacker did not have much, not that he was poor just a bit mental. He had his life, his friends, and his bar called "The Pitcher." Where I will go this summer for the first time. If the place even still exists.

He loved comics, video games, and stacking silver.
It´s too late to even ask him why Silver.
But when he talked about it he was like Michael Saylor on Bitcoin.
There was fire, there was passion.

Now I have seen that same passion in this community, and that is exactly the reason why I kept lurking in the shadows.
I don´t know if I have the same passion.

But since the other part of the original stack got sold, I did notice something.

The Game Changer

I always consider myself pretty open-minded.
I can accept a lot and hey if that´s what tickles your pickle please go ahead and put the pickle in the pie and enjoy.

Of course, I get it. The guy was a friend, he has a girlfriend, they are a couple of thousand short on the renovation, and then you see silver go up like crazy. At least from a Bullion Market point of view.

So yes I got it, and he sold it.
Now he promised to pay for this year's food and drinks during the OG Stackers memorial party which is in June.

He said that the OG Stacker would have wanted it that way.

He might have wanted it that way, he might. We will never know.
What I do know is that I felt something, not sure if it was fire, passion, or just a hemorrhoid. But I definitely felt something.

Maybe I felt FOMO.....

I SOLD AS WELL

I felt like the guy might be on to something, so I took a look at the price:

image.png

He sold on the 18th of May just before the top of that first peak. I sold two days later, just after that first peak. The guy made me FOMO, or at least he piqued my interest.

Now don´t get me wrong, I did not touch the OG Stackers stack.

I am holding some shiny stuff in a vault in Switzerland or so they have me believe. Those holdings were 2/3 silver and 1/3 gold. But as I have some kilos of silver around the house, I thought it might be smart to swap some silver for gold for one simple reason.

And I might be completely wrong, as I am a Baby when it comes to these precious... but looking at the chart Gold seems a little less volatile to me.

Like swapping some ETH for BTC at the peak of the bull run. I wonder if it was a smart move but it´s too late to turn back now.

This was the first time I actually made a trade on Gold Republic, been slowly stacking there ever since they offered me $50 of gold for depositing $100.

Yeah, that sounded shady to me as well but they have excellent credentials and are fully registered, audited, certified, and insured and located in The Netherlands.

And while it´s fun to have a stack hidden in the house, it´s never a bad idea to spread the risk.

Back to The Friend That Sold

FOMO was not the only thing he gave me. He also gave me back a memory.

"Don´t sell it, it will go up."

Those were the OG Stacker's words when he told me that he was planning to leave me half his stack.

That was October 2020 with Silver at $777 the kilo. And he was right Silver went up 25% since then. Well, it is probably that the dollar has gone down 25% since then.

Anyway, he was right about that one.

Still No Clue

Still, I have no clue what started him stacking, but I think it´s exactly that hedge against inflation that made him put some money in his precious. And I have a clue why I think that was his reasoning.

He did not buy nice new shiny things, he mainly bought old Dutch Coins with Silver 72% silver in them.

Until I know a bit more I am going to assume that that was the profitable buy he could make because I was handed 5 of these bags.

They are not all equal in weight, nor do they hold exactly the same coins. But this is basically what he was stacking Dutch Coins with a high percentage of silver. And as the other part of the stack got sold, quickly and easily I know they are good as gold.

IMG_20240530_151010.jpg
That was the first package I got, first in a series of five. Five net kilos of silver, unpolished and raw. Well, at least when I received them.

1389 grams of coins, all made up of 72% silver each plastic bag holding one kilo of Dutch silver. Coins that 65 years ago were used by people paying for their groceries are now held as my last line of defense.

Because I ain´t selling.

Not Sold

I am certainly not sold on the idea of selling my stack. And for the moment I don´t have to.

I was asked not to sell by the OG Stacker, and I will keep that promise a bit longer. His stack is safe with me, and his stack is to keep me safe.

What do I mean by keeping me safe?

My stack is what keeps me alive when everything else fails.

When Medicine, Water, Food, Seeds, Gold. and Silver once again will be what keeps the economy going. The Doomsday Economy, the economy that has to do without a global network of banks, ATMs, or even the Internet.

A world where Dollars & Bitcoins are worthless, where money no longer flows from walls. In that world, we will soon be back to trading goods for real assets.
If that day comes, what are you gonna trade?

No fuel, no electricity, what have you stacked that allows you to survive going back to medieval times?
My Doomsday Stack hopefully will not be needed in my lifetime, but at least I have a Plan B, and it makes more sense than Plan B.

A plan B I only recently thought of, A Plan B that never crossed my mind till a year ago or so.

I wonder if that was the idea behind the OG Stacker starting his stacks. But I guess I will never know, or at least have to wait til I meet the OG Stacker, my Brother again in the hereafter.

Bikini Bottom Line

That is how my stacking story started.

Now that something has been ignited I probably drop in more frequently, as I will keep Stacking for Doomsday. And I have some better pics of the shiny stuff, but hey you should never show your full stack the first time you meet.

Thank goodness you made it till the end Pees, Love and I am out of here!

Great post. I never bought those bags of guilders or rijksdaalders but those are the cheapest form of silver normally. I bought only Philharmonics and all with the silver mountain in Netherlands. They also buy back at spot all normal bullion coins.

(My upvote is low nowadays as I took out most of my Hive)

Well that was exactly the comment I was looking for, hence nevermind that upvote but knowing that this is indeed the cheapest way to build a stack was really what I needed to know.

But I should have known you were Dutch after reading @thisismylife s post with the package from The Netherlands, but what makes it more fun is that you own a Spanish casita. Not sure if I mentioned it anywhere in the post but those package from the OG stacker were sent to Spain as it´s been my country of residence for quite some years now. But that makes having these guldens and rijksdaalders here even more fun.

Anyway nice to meet you and thanks for the very useful comment, I probably get me some more of those coins when I am in the Netherlands this summer because finding it here in the south of Spain for some reason is not that easy.

Wow, that's pretty awesome! I don't think I know anyone who would ever leave anything to me. Not that valuable anyway. Maybe records or something like that, but that's about it! Best think you can do is keep stacking! This is a great community!

I was told it is a great community indeed. Been lurking for long, but I think I got the silver and gold fever now so I felt it was time to finally join the stacker party.

That's awesome. Throw out a couple more great posts like this one and you might find yourself getting nominated!

I believe the day will come when One Ounce of Silver will get me Two Ounces of Gold... So, if I had to sell some of my Stack to pay Bills, I'd sell my Gold before ever thinking of selling my Silver...

Now you made me curious! I am sure you have a post to explain that POV

Yes... Most of my posts are about the U.S. Monetary Correction...

That's a great post! I can understand not selling, especially something left to you. I'm not selling that is for sure, it's nice to have like minded people around, that's what's great about our community. Keep on stacking up the shiny!

Oh is that the book that got me into this post apocalyptic mindset....or was it because of Watching Mad MAx at 11???

😅😁💪

That's one sexy bag!

Unlike with my crypto bags, with this one I truly feel a Bag Holder!

I liked your story about the OG Stacker and how he impacted your life. He sounds like a good friend and mentor. Many of us in the SilverGoldStackers (SGS) community also see the charm and value in old coins and their fascinating history. Thanks for a delightful read! 🙂

Thank You! l I am not gonna spoil the next post but he was a great guy indeed, now you bring up the point where I struggle...old coins history, I really hope to get that one day. I am a business baby, always have been. Been stacking sats before I started sticking silver but I never truly got in it for the tech. Same with stacking coins, so far. I am in it because I do not trust the world and where it´s going, but hopefully I will see that beauty one day....more to come on that next week !LOLZ

Welcome to #silvergoldstackers @whywhy I'm glad to see you step out from the shadows into the light. In real life around Coin Clubs and Collectable shows there are always a few anonymous Stackers who quietly hover around the gold or silver coin dealers, they often offer a price between the buy and sell price set by a locally know retailer. A few whispers, a nod or two, a deal is made and the buyer leaves the building all within minutes.
The first rule of Stacking; Tell No One.
I respect that.

All of us Stack more or less the same reasons, being aware of our crumbling economic system we each prepare in our own way. My journey started by enjoying the quality time with my Father and his silver coin collection.

Having a Mentor is priceless, I learned real economics, getting my own financial house in order, and starting small and modest goals. I found learning the history behind certain coins turns my crank, making me a numismatist as well as collector. The fun part of Stacking. While we may share a silver coin; that's passed down by a grand parent, acquired by a trade, bought at an auction, gifted from a friend or dug up on a beach, we believe that in all it's forms, silver and gold has been always Real Money.

First of thanks for a wonderful welcome!
Secondly, I love the comment.
Thirdly, thanks for giving me a new word: numismatist, I will make good use of that one.
And last but not least, the real money reference, that one is valuable and will also be re-used.

Really awesome comment but with Raven in a name, I guess I should expect nothing less. It´s my son's 2nd name ;)
