I don't like cold... I think I said that a couple (of dozens š) of times... I wasn't like that before when I lived in a much colder place... I didn't know for better... When I moved to live in Spain, it wasn't because of the weather, but that was a huge bonus... Yes, we do have over 300 sunny days in a year, it's not too hot in the summer, and we don't have snow and temperatures under zero... But, when winter comes, we have strong winds, and we have high humidity (during the whole year) which in combination with the wind creates a much colder feeling... And like everyone else in this globe, we have shorter daylight time during the winters...
That last one probably hurts me the most... In spring and summer, I usually go for walks in the afternoons... I do most of my work in the mornings and late at night so that I can do the walks during the afternoon, but in winter it's not like that... As there is no daylight (and sun) after 6 PM, the temperature drops rapidly and it's not that "cozy" to go for a walk... So, I skip one day, and go for a walk every second day... and I skip 2 days in a row, then 3 days... Then I get sick and I don't leave my home for a week!!!
After some time, my blog page looks like it looks right now... Crypto content is all over the place... It's not that it's bad, but I like to share some nature stuff too... It's relaxing me and I know that many of you like that too!!! So, I went into my "history folders" to search for photos from the past... At least, I can remind myself how it was and maybe motivate myself to go out again!!!
So, I found this great collection of photos that I took from a walk that I did exactly a year ago, in November 2022! You can see in the photos the Amadorio Lake, near Villajoyosa, Spain... It is one of my favorite places for a walk, but as it's not that close to my home, I used to go there maybe 4-5 times per year...
It is an artificial lake as you can see from the photo below, it has a big dam built around 60 years ago... The water is used as a supply of tap water for two cities, Villajoyosa and Benidorm... Despite being an artificial lake, nature around it is still astonishing...
As it doesn't have some historical monuments around, or a museum, bar, etc. there aren't too many visitors and tourists... As a matter of fact, after a 2-hour walk, we would meet maybe 3-4 persons in total... The dam itself isn't architectured to be under heavy load, so the road that goes over it is closed to traffic... Because of that, the roads that are leading to it, from both sides, almost don't have traffic at all! Exactly what I like! š
The day was perfect for taking these wide landscape shots which I did, but unfortunately, after filtering out, there weren't too many left... Also, I like to take these closeups, like you can see below, with the pinecone...
There is an asphalt road that goes around the lake (photo below), but you can also go offroad and get closer to the lake finding these "secret" trails through the woods and reed...
When you can take photos of LONG shadows, you know that it is autumn... š It was getting dark, and around this point, we decided to go back toward our car...
Oh, I remember now! The main idea for this walk was to take photos of the carob tree as I had an idea of creating a post about this magnificent tree (which I still haven't done!!!)... A lot of trees look like this one (photo above)... Almost dead, but still not giving up!!! New branches are growing, but I have no idea from where, as the trunk looks completely dead... That's the reason why I like it! It's never giving up!
The girl with an Ecency bag taking photos of nature... š
As there are hills around, there are also two short tunnels from both sides of the bridge/dam... As with any other tunnels (especially if they are abandoned, without traffic), they are dark, full of graffiti, and stinky... š So, I didn't take photos inside them...
Don't know why these flowers were there, but I suppose the reason was some unfortunate event from the past...
What would be a post by ph1102 if there weren't "sunrays-going-through-trees" photos? š I had a couple more like this, but this was the best one... :)
This banner contained information about the dam and its surroundings, plants, and animal life, but as you can see, it got forgotten, and after that, vandalized by people...
The last look at the lake, and going back home before it gets dark... I hope you enjoyed this short walk! I did, even a year after I took it!!! š
Thank you for your time,
~ph~
