Last weekend during our stay in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria a good friend of mine who lives there called me on the phone. He offered to take us to a beautiful eco friendly nature site called Хотнишкият водопад /The Hotnitsa waterfall /
https://www.europeanwaterfalls.com/waterfalls/hotnitsa/
We had a 20 minute drive out of Veliko Tarnovo and there it was …an emerald green piece of paradise hidden in the woods.
The Hotnitsa waterfall is a wonderfulful place. It`s cold waters fall beautifully splashing through the steep rocks, forming a small canyon of the Bohot river.
There were no guards, no admission fees, no barriers.
Beautiful wooden bridges and stairs helped us see the beauty of the place.
The green lake was full of fish.
The beauty of the place is amazing.
The waterfall is easily accessible - one can go there by car. It is located about 230 kilometers northeast of the capital Sofia and about 15-20 kilometers north of Veliko Tarnovo - near the village of Hotnitsa, Veliko Tarnovo region. In order to get to the village of Hotnitsa you have to pass through the village of Samovodene.
There are plenty of signposts showing the direction to the waterfall.
Here`s a little video I shot:
THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY!
