Towards the end of last year, an update was published from Kanibot showcasing the new updates that were implemented. I thought it would be good to do some updates every quarter. This article will list all the updates that were made to Kanibot in the last quarter. The update will be posted towards the end of the quarter.
What is Kanibot?
Kanibot is a notifications service for Hive and Hive Engine users. Currently, the notification is targeted towards discord users. There is also a feature available in Kanibot to get some game-specific notifications as well. Kanibot started as a Hobby project when we had issues with Gina bot. Later more notifications and features were introduced to Kanibot and it was released for public use. A few users are using this for their notifications on Discord and I'm trying to keep this up to date.
New updates and features
As usual, I have made a lot of fixes and improvements in the background but would like to highlight some of the updates and features added to Kanibot.
Different Colors based on type to distinguish the notifications
I wanted this feature because sometimes when we are flooded with notifications, if we have different colors to differentiate the notification, it will be nice to view. Each type of notification will now have a different color.
Hive Engine distribution notifications resumed
There was an issue with Hive Engine distribution contract notifications. This was a long-term issue and this has been fixed now.
Proposal vote notifications
If you are casting a vote on proposals or if someone is voting on your proposal, you will receive a notification. This notification can be turned on and off from the settings on the website.
Migrations from Gina
Gina bot was a notification service for discord users by the Build team. Last month Gina bot stopped its service and many people have been migrating from the Gina to the Friday bot as the Gina Bot officially announced it. Friday bot notifications are a bit different in the looks. It can be a little different for people to migrate from Gina bot to Friday and get used to it. On Kanibot I have made the notifications look similar to Gina and people might experience almost the same type of notifications when they migrate from Gina to Kanibot. They can give it a try.
I did try reaching out to the developer of Ginabot also to recommend @kanibot as an alternative to Friday but it was not considered. Those who are reading this post and would like to give Kanibot a try, please go ahead. You can also spread the word to your friends.
