So much for a lazy Saturday kept fairly busy today I have a multitude of things I can share in this blog post but I will be sharing the one that is most interesting and also potentially the most helpful.
So a little while back I got an SLA printer, now I have many printers but non like this, it's all upside down literally a build platform dips into a vat of resin and then a LCD screen at the bottom cures the resin strategically to make a print upside down.
The upside to these machines is a much greater detail and a cleaner finish perfect for jewelry and making molds for other precious metals casting related activities.
Now I had this unit for a while I shot first and asked questions later, I purchased it and when it showed up I did research and realized this thing is a hassle and can be fairly toxic so it's just been sitting there idle for a while until today I had the bright idea to give it a shot without first building a ventilation system for the fumes as I originally planned but having the kids out of the house I figured how bad can it really be...

If you get a SLA printer you need to set up a ventilation system to air out the fumes!
In other news leo shorts seem to be working, that's a neat development and it's great to see progress for hive microblogging, right below is a short about this situation as you can see I start off fairly cocky.
Look at this cool guy oh fumes he don't care but a few minutes into it , I was rethinking my decision, it was starting to smell really bad like some next drug synthesis was taking place, I realized the flaws of my ways but I already committed, I was printing a challenge coin for someone and wanted to see if I could squeeze out some more details than from my regular printers, it's about the size of a 1 oz silver round and it said it was going to take 3 hours to print!
I was starting to feel the buzz so I realized I gotta do something I brought in an air purifier and set it next to the printer opened windows and got some fans going, that helped but still was fairly bad.
As you can see I had to take it back to the covid days and bust out a mask to stop the spread.
The worst part about it beside the L to my health was during the entire process I had no clue what is happening since it's all happening within a liquid! So it could be fucking up and poisoning me to make trash 🤣
Well after 3 hours It managed to finish and looks decent it has some support structures just like the other printers that need to be broken off but this part also needs to be washed and cured further with UV light or sunlight if you ain't got the gadgets.
I hope once I am done with it the part will be worth while.
I lefts it in the machine as there is still resin that can drip off the part back into the vat I also covered it with a garbage bag in the mean time to prevent any sunlight from curing the resin inside, I will probably leave it in there for a while and take it out another time to give it a wash and finish the curing process.
Moving forward I will not be using this machine until I get the ventilation system sorted, that means I got to buy and print stuff to make it 🤣 but if I am really impressed with the part this process will be expedited, so far I really like my other machines more a lot less hassle even if the part may not be as nice.
