Motivational Mondays: How Not to Get Old (at Least, Not at Heart)

It is generally held that graffiti is a problem, and you can look at that wall and tell: the owners of that building think so and so this message to the world is not long for this world.

However, I have humbly learned to accept wisdom however it comes to me, so as I was on my way here ...

I looked to my right and there this wisdom was, having appeared since the last time I had walked that way.

I remember playing in the playground on Alamo Square and elsewhere in the park as a child, but always loved the trees and the time away from the cars for itself ... my favorite vacations were into the Santa Cruz mountains and their redwoods. I also moved up to "playing" the piano at some point in there, and also my making wallpapers for early PCs turned into fractal art mastery later ... and I'm still making up stories of my own, every day on Hive ... so, indeed, I have determined that I never need to stop playing.

Meanwhile, my friends are asking me: "How are you always getting younger?" Really, what is happening is that I am taking more selfies while at my play. This is my newest point of exploration, Elk Glen Park on a day of gold and silver light ...

... and this is me relaxing, with ample time to explore and photograph its winter shoreline a week or so before my 44th birthday.

I am a person of high responsibility, and many people who knew me before the age of 39 would have told you how much older I present because that. I am an old soul indeed, and because I had so many older mentors I do then to think like them ... but since age 39 and Covid-19 giving me time on my hands and Hive giving me a place to create every day, NOW I am getting younger in the eyes of many people!

I have decided that I am going to never stop playing, though age I must ... so long as I can create and explore, I will, and that takes nothing but prioritizing time to do this. Not that it is EASY ... time outdoors is not time I spend making money, but that inspires me to work smarter and figure out how to obtain income that works while I am outside ... and even that is a question of creating and exploring. Crypto is in a bull run ... that's good ground to explore in ... and maybe I'll learn blockchain for the next run!

Don't stop playing, folks ... find ways to enjoy the creativity and curiosity that you have as you can and see what that does for your life!

This is an interesting outlook.
I think I am one of those who stopped playing and enjoying the time. Instead I am constantly worried about one thing or another. But recently I decided to make a change for myself. I think it's important and now is time before it's too late to turn around.
I am trying to write daily but at the same time I am facing issues.

I came across your profile as you were marked as daily blogger. Hoping to learn consistency from you.

Cheers 🥂

BTW, I thought you were two people Dee and Matthews. 🤣 But I guess you are used to it by now.

Nope ... Deeann D. Mathews is my name ... I write enough for two people, but we will call that the gift of God, making two, and so account for it!

I keep my phone camera handy on my walks, and that often gives me ideas to work with ... the music I listen to ... the people I love and serve ... find what gives you joy and makes you think, and just go from there, every day.

This is really beautifully written. There's wisdom in everything you said, most of us get carried away by trying to make life work for us, that we forget what it means to take time to rest and play.

Thank you so much ... I was so glad to see that on the wall ... I needed the reminder too ... it is so easy to get caught up!

My way of continuing to play has been different from yours. I had children, so I got to play with them. And now I have grandchildren, so I get to play all the fun games all over again. I still climb on the playground equipment, and I love play-doh, and Hide and Seek. I suppose in a few years they will be too old to play with Gramma, and then I will have to take a page from your book and learn how to play on my own!

But that is THE BEST WAY, though! I loved playing with my grandparents, and they loved playing with me -- that's THE BEST!
