The lessons from a mouse

In one experiment, a container filled with rice grains was positioned over a mouse.
He was relieved to see an abundance of food nearby and no longer felt the need to search for it.
He may now, at last, spend his life carefree and without exertion.

When the rice runs out after a few days of delight, it ends up in the bottom of the jar.

That's when he knows he's stuck and there's no way out.

He now needs someone to put grains in his jar for him to survive.

He is now forced to consume whatever, if anything, he is permitted to eat.

This is the process of making a slave.

A slave who never refused permission.

Thoughts:

  • Momentary joys can give way to long-term difficulties.

  • You are entangling yourself in an addiction if things are simple and you get comfortable.

  • You will lose more than just your talents if you are not using them. You lose your free will and your capacity to make choices.

  • Whilst difficult to obtain, freedom may be lost swiftly.
