There are lots of blessings to being single, which I am enjoying. Although a single person is pitied upon and a married person is celebrated, My experience is opposite from what is commonly thought. Being single has contributed to my self-discovery, freedom, and personal growth. A person can have more time and energy being single than being married.
I will point out the benefits of being single one by one.
Less stressful life; this is my favorite one. A single person doesn't have to stress about family obligations and has less stress regarding family dynamics. You don't have to answer to anyone, nor do you have any pressure to prove your worth to your family. You can eat what you want and when you want. A married person has lots of stresses to deal with in their life, regarding their spouse and children.
Freedom: I have more freedom to live my life according to my principles and decide about my life instead of compromising. I can earn and keep my money without having to share it with anyone. I travel around the world without any hustle or worrying about partners' schedules or consent. I can go to the restaurants of my choice and eat my favorite food. I can binge-watch Netflix series without guilt. Most of all, I have control over remote control.
Exploring myself: I am getting to know myself more as I spend more time alone. I am discovering different layers of myself. I found out lots of things about myself, including my strengths and weaknesses. I am exploring my interests, developing new hobbies, and doing what truly makes me happy. I have more time to pursue and explore my hobbies.
Time management: I can manage my time effectively. All my time can be freely dedicated to my career, hobbies, and travel. I can spend my time doing things I love, and it makes my life more fulfilling.
Financial Independence; I am independent financially, and I don't have to consider any other person's expenses. I can invest my money wherever I want to; I am not answerable to anyone. I plan my budget just for myself, considering only my expenses. In studies, it has been proven that single people do a lot better financially than married people.
Beneficial for society; A single person contributes more to society by helping others and volunteering. They are active citizens who play their roles more effectively. They do more than their share. They have more free time to care for elders and do social work. I help my elderly mom around the house and get to spend quality time with my parents.
Conclusion; Every person is different, and the benefits they provide to the society are different too. Everyone is contributing to society differently, and what might be an advantage for one could be a disadvantage for another. I am not against the institution of marriage, but this is how I enjoy my life. Maybe someday I will change my mind and marry the girl of my choice, but for now I am having a great time with myself and living a meaningful life.
