I've always enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas, it great place to visit and there is so much to do beside gambling. It's become very family friendly, however, the down side of that is that it's become more expensive to visit. If you get the chance to visit it's very much worth the trip, as a matter of fact many of the #silvergoldstackers meet up there once a year!
One of the items that I have loved to collect over the years are Silver Striker tokens. These are commemorative tokens that were paid out as prizes for winning on the Silver Striker slot machines. They used to be in most casinos around the world at one time, but I've not seen one in years now. The nice thing about the slot machines is they pay out actual silver collectable gaming tokens. That was a big part of their popularity. I have won some playing on the slots in the past, but found it was cheaper to buy them online or even in pawn shops in Vegas.
My preferred tokens are ones that came from casinos that have gone out of business because they are pieces of history. There are a few I make exceptions for the rule, one of them being The Venetian in Las Vegas. It's a fun place to stay but it can be a little expensive. The particular token I'm sharing today is one that has an image of the Rialto Bridge in Venice, Italy.

This is a beautiful token that is a made of .999 fine silver surrounded by a brass ring. If I recall correctly the silver amount comes out to be about 0.65 Troy ounces, so not an insignificant amount of silver. The best part though is always the art work they put into these. The logo side of this one has The Venetian logo and that this was an edition from the year 2000 celebrating the millennium. The design side of the token has the Rialto Bridge which I'll talk about in some more detail here below.
These are a great way to collect silver and they're a lot of fun to pick up. I've noticed that the prices have gone up on them more than silver prices. It may be that more people are collecting them, so you may want to look for a good deal before you buy!

The Rialto Bridge is an iconic landmark in the city of Venice, being the oldest of the four bridges to span the Grand Canal. If you visit it's a must see location for sure. The current bridge was completed in 1591, replacing an older similar wooden bridge. When you visit it's common to see a lot of tourists there taking pictures, the last time I was there was in the month of August. It was really hot that summer but not even the heat keeps the visitors away!
Venice is a beautiful city with so many historic sites to visit, but next time I go will be in a cooler month to avoid the crowds. Europe tends to be very crowded in July and August from my experience. I do have my own pictures of this bridge but they were taken on a film camera, so I have prints and negatives somewhere that I need to covert to digital. As you may guess it's been a few years since I've been to Venice!
That will wrap up my post for the day. I hope you enjoyed seeing the silver token as well as pictures of the real item. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below. Thank you for all of your support everyone, it really is greatly appreciated!
