Here we are on Tuesday again, meaning another Three Tune Tuesday. Thanks @ablaze for starting and sponsoring the event! It's always a bit of a conundrum choosing what kind of music to share each week. While commuting this week I was listening to a hard rock station and there is so much good music in the genre right now. So today I think it's going to have to be some hard rock/ heavy metal produced in the past year or so just to make things interesting!
A band that I have enjoyed for years has been Ghost. They formed in 2006 in Linköping, Sweden. They are fronted by Tobias Forge and there are seven other band members known as Nameless Ghouls all pretty much undistinguishable from the others. They have a knack for writing very catchy songs in the hard rock/ heavy metal genre. This song is a good one called "Spillways":
Next up I'm going to have to go with a classic metal band with their latest album. Metallica I'm sure everyone has heard of and knows at least one of their songs. The band was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles by front man James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich. They have been pumping out hit music ever since. They also led the campaign to end Napster that was a music sharing site that led to no compensation for the bands producing the music, and through a court battle pretty much shut them down (interesting factoid of the day.) Here's a song called "Lux Æterna", proving they still can produce quality music more than forty years after they started!
Slipknot is a band that formed in Des Moines, Iowa, US in 1995. The all wear masks for their performances and those masks change for each new album. They have compared it to the band Kiss with the makeup except they are evolving with each new album, therefore new masks. They have a very aggressive style of heavy metal and to be honest haven't always been my favorite band. But at times they have put out some real catchy music, like the one I'm sharing today. It's called "The Dying Song (Time To Sing)"
Today was a bit of a departure from my usual material, going with current hard rock and heavy metal. It just goes to show that the genre is still alive and evolving. I hope you enjoyed them all or at least some of the songs today.
And just for a bonus track today since I shared Metallica. Lars Ulrich's sons formed a band called Tapei Houston. One would think the sons of a heavy metal legend would play heavy metal, not quite. They're pretty good, have a listen to "As The Sun Sets":
