I can't believe it has been already an entire year since the day I joined Hive, and the first thing I ever got interested in was in HiveGaming, being the perfect place for my main interest for writing and reading. To conmemorate this very first anniversary on this wonderful community, I'll be going down a memory lane of many things. This goes from my first posts and the experience I learned the hardway from them (followed by what would be my first moments of real activity and success), the biggest highlights from the whole year which comes down to the games you've really liked to see me talk about, the stuff I've written other than game reviews, and of course, my experience overall with the buddies I've met here (and the game nights that ensued with them).
For those that have been following me since my earliest days, those that have been supporting me and curating my content, and specially those buddies on the HiveGaming Discord I've talked about (@ikasumanera, @therealflaws, @rishahp, @perceval, @stk-g, @gabotask, and many others I mention later on), I want to wish you all a HUGE and heartful thank you for receiving me so warmly, and I'm glad to have an outlet where I can share my content and fun games I've found across the years that I loved and still love to play. Having done exactly 81 game reviews (this not counting gameplays) in 2021 and going up to 96 games I've talked about if we count the ones I've talked about starting this year, it means that I will have almost reached a whopping 100 games I've talk about here! And those that know me do know that number won't be stopping there ;)
And yes, practically almost every post here is long past the payout week, and I'm putting them up here as a sort of museum of the stuff I have written over the course of the last year, and that people can take a read at them if they wish. Now, without any further ado, let's get going on the memory train!
On the date of February 13, 2021, is where I made my account and made my first post ever both on Hive and HiveGaming...which ended up being a of me playing Halo 2 with my cousins over splitscreen. While I did have a lot of previous writing experience on my own blog the year before, I hadn't thought about anything to write about other than sharing the video, having seen some share videos as posts...but I ended up taking the initiative properly after that.

I ended up making my first proper game reviews right after that, talking about the Sonic Robo Blast 2 and SRB2Kart fangames, and Tekken 2 for Playstation. At this time I was pouring an incredible amount of words and effort in my posts, resulting in some gigantic reviews for the Sonic fangames...but I hadn't still entered the HiveGaming Discord and started engaging with the community, so unfortunately, these went under the radar and I felt demotivated for a while...until two months later, where I joined the Discord after @ikasumanera's recommendation, talked about the cool idea of achievements in classic PS1 games through RetroAchievements, and that's where I finally put the pedal to the metal.

I took the time to check my previous posts to see which ones had the most votes to giess the games that have been the most popular here. There have been a lot of games I've covered that had a lot of love and comments from many over here, and while numbers are often a simple metric, I thought it would be cool to show the ones that had A LOT of people appreciating it. Something that I noticed is that MOST of these are racing games...and I couldn't be any more prouder of that 😭
I've always loved racing games and specially the ones that I've talked about, and while I really like a lot of other games as well, I found pretty interesting that many of the people's favorites were about slamming the pedal to the metal (or messing with your buddies over wheels). Really speaks something about how universal racing games can be, because its not hard to understand and enjoy the art of GOING FAST 🤠
Alright, enough of jokes, here are the top 10 games of this year! (I wanted to only count games from 2021, but there was exactly one game between this and last February that ended up in this list...so there it goes!)

While I've definitely talked about playing games more than anything, there have been times where I wanted to do something a bit more different, thinking back on my past years writing stuff on my blog before joining here. From experiences with emulators and consoles, to trying to write about the evolution process of certain things in the industry, and sometimes covering specific emulators (like bsnes-hd, Duckstation and MAME). Regardless if some had less attention than others, it has been interesting to take on ideas like these again after so long, and it has been awesome to see the huge support some of these have seen!

If any of you are reading this right now, you definitely know who you are, and I'm glad to have joined you guys so much on many fun dumb games. In this case I don't have many posts to talk about those times, but I can definitely say that I've enjoyed playing stuff like Left 4 Dead 2, Counter-Strike 1.6, Halo, Among Us, Skribbl.io and Gartic Phone with them over the voice chat in the Discord, and these buddies I played with often got to make posts about those times we did.

You know, the fact that HiveGaming bothered to make contests previously so that people could end up using their creativity in an interesting way and specific topic is actually very inventive and fun, and I do remember that after the very first contest they made (where I happened to be in as well), they ended up adding a 1000 words limit, which would be both for forcing people to be more creative under the limitations...and to not suffer under having to read a super long post while reviewing them for the contest. I definitely had a thing for making HUGE posts at the beginning, but the word limitation definitely had me forced to play smarter, and it was pretty fun to do so!
On that note, I'm still pretty flattered to have got a winning placement in one of the contests (IIRC it was the first one I participated on where I got that), and putting that aside, its great to have a specific goal to work with along with many others. I'm looking forward to see more contests here, I'll be trying to show up in them as much as I can! 😄

To think that it has been an entire year already...having started with fangames, emulation and Time Crisis, ending 2021 with Super Contra for Arcades and then starting 2022 with Ridge Racer Type 4, and that my last post before hitting this milestone of an anniversary was about Virtua Fighter, the game that got me interested on testing stuff with old PC ports and invested me further in both retro AND finding out about SEGA games (because again, I never owned a SEGA console, so it was all exposition from Internet and Sonic games in consoles before this). I'd definitely like to talk about that one last story sometime, but for now, I can say that some things just come back like that.
If anything, I'm here thanks to everybody that has supported me, from Hive curators, the Hive Gaming Community, to those gaming buddies I've found on the Discord to play stuff with; it really has been a wild ride where, while there have been ups and downs just like in life itself, having an outlet to write about the incredible amount of games that I have enjoyed across my 19 years of life (20 in two months 😎), both popular and obscure, classic to unique, unmodified or modded (I'm looking forward to covering more romhacks too!), through emulation or even in real hardware. On that last note, I was probably the only one at high school that actually had original NDS games instead of just a flashcart, so that should say something about how lucky I was like that along with the many consoles I've got (including the ones that I haven't talked about yet from my own experience).
And seriously, having got new people to talk with about games, enjoy some fun gaming nights, get to read many others gaming posts on a single place, and getting to work forward a big goal thanks to Hive. I got a new phone last year; it has been a bit annoying because I happened to update it...but other than that, it has been a great phone for what I needed, and now there's something else to aim for...but in any case, it is great that I can do so through my own passion and experience with writing, as I ended up moving from my standalone blog to here since.
And once again, I can't stress enough how grateful I am to everybody here. I'm looking forward to that this new year ends up being way better than the last one, both for the platform AND for each one of our lives out there. With that said, if you actually ended up reading everything and got here, you have my most sincere thanks for celebrating my anniversary with me 🙌

No puedo creer que haya pasado ya un año entero desde el día en que me uní a Hive, y lo primero que me interesó fue HiveGaming, siendo el lugar perfecto para mi principal interés por la escritura y la lectura. Para conmemorar este primer aniversario en esta maravillosa comunidad, voy a hacer un recorrido por la memoria de muchas cosas. Esto va desde mis primeros posts y la experiencia que aprendí de ellos (seguido de lo que serían mis primeros momentos de verdadera actividad y éxito), los mayores puntos de interés de todo el año que se reduce a los juegos de los que realmente os ha gustado verme hablar, las cosas que he escrito aparte de las reseñas de juegos, y por supuesto, mi experiencia en general con los compañeros que he conocido aquí (y las noches de juego que siguieron con ellos).
Para los que me han seguido desde mis primeros días, los que me han apoyado y curado mi contenido, y especialmente aquellos compañeros en el Discord de HiveGaming de los que he hablado (@ikasumanera, @therealflaws, @rishahp, @perceval, @stk-g, @gabotask, y muchos otros que mencionaré más adelante), quiero desearos a todos un GRANDE y sincero agradecimiento por recibirme tan cariñosamente, y me alegro de tener una salida en la que poder compartir mis contenidos y los divertidos juegos que he encontrado a lo largo de los años y que me han encantado y me sigue gustando jugar. ¡Habiendo hecho exactamente 81 reseñas de juegos (esto sin contar los gameplays) en 2021 y subiendo a 96 juegos de los que he hablado si contamos los que he hablado a partir de este año, significa que habré llegado casi a la friolera de 100 juegos de los que he hablado aquí! Y los que me conocen saben que ese número no se detendrá ahí ;)
Y sí, prácticamente todos los post de aquí ya han pasado la semana de pago, y los pongo aquí como una especie de museo de las cosas que he escrito a lo largo del último año, y que la gente pueda echarles un vistazo si lo desea. Ahora, sin más preámbulos, ¡seguimos con el tren de la memoria!
En la fecha del 13 de febrero de 2021, es cuando me hice mi cuenta e hice mi primer post tanto en Hive como en HiveGaming... que terminó siendo uno de mí jugando Halo 2 con mis primos por pantalla dividida. Si bien es cierto que el año anterior tenía mucha experiencia escribiendo en mi propio blog, no había pensado en nada más que compartir el vídeo, habiendo visto que algunos compartían vídeos como posts... pero acabé tomando la iniciativa propiamente dicha después.

Acabé haciendo mis primeras reseñas de juegos propiamente dichas justo después, hablando de los fangames Sonic Robo Blast 2 y SRB2Kart, y de Tekken 2 para Playstation. En este momento estaba vertiendo una increíble cantidad de palabras y esfuerzo en mis posts, resultando en algunas reseñas gigantescas para los fangames de Sonic... pero todavía no había entrado en el Discord de HiveGaming y empezado a participar con la comunidad, así que desafortunadamente, estas pasaron por debajo del radar y me sentí desmotivado por un tiempo. ...hasta que dos meses más tarde, cuando me uní al Discord tras la recomendación de @ikasumanera, hablé de la genial idea de los logros en los juegos clásicos de PS1 a través de RetroAchievements, y ahí es donde finalmente pisé el acelerador.

Me he tomado la molestia de revisar mis posts anteriores para ver cuáles han tenido más votos para adivinar los juegos que han sido más populares aquí. Ha habido un montón de juegos que he cubierto y que han tenido mucho amor y comentarios de muchos por aquí, y aunque los números son a menudo una simple métrica, pensé que estaría bien mostrar los que tenían Mucha gente apreciándolos. Me he dado cuenta de que la mayoría son juegos de carreras... y no podría estar más orgulloso de ello 😭.
Siempre me han gustado los juegos de carreras y, especialmente, los que he comentado, y aunque también me gustan muchos otros juegos, me pareció bastante interesante que muchos de los favoritos de la gente fueran de pisar el acelerador a fondo (o de meterse con tus amigos sobre ruedas). Esto habla de lo universales que pueden ser los juegos de carreras, porque no es difícil entender y disfrutar del arte de "ir rápido".
Bueno, basta de bromas, ¡aquí están los 10 mejores juegos de este año! (Quería contar sólo los juegos de 2021, pero hubo exactamente un juego entre este y el pasado febrero que terminó en esta lista... ¡así que ahí va!)

Aunque definitivamente he hablado de juegos más que nada, ha habido momentos en los que he querido hacer algo un poco más diferente, pensando en mis años pasados escribiendo cosas en mi blog antes de entrar aquí. Desde experiencias con emuladores y consolas, hasta intentar escribir sobre el proceso de evolución de ciertas cosas en la industria, y a veces cubrir emuladores específicos (como bsnes-hd, Duckstation y MAME). Independientemente de que algunos hayan recibido menos atención que otros, ha sido interesante retomar ideas como éstas después de tanto tiempo, ¡y ha sido impresionante ver el enorme apoyo que han recibido algunos de ellos!

En este caso no tengo muchos posts para hablar de esos tiempos, pero definitivamente puedo decir que he disfrutado jugando cosas como Left 4 Dead 2, Counter-Strike 1.6, Halo, Among Us, Skribbl.io y Gartic Phone con ellos a través del chat de voz en el Discord, y estos compañeros con los que he jugado a menudo tienen que hacer posts sobre esos tiempos que hicimos.

Sabes, el hecho de que HiveGaming se molestara en hacer concursos previamente para que la gente pudiera terminar usando su creatividad de una manera interesante y de un tema específico es realmente muy inventivo y divertido, y recuerdo que después del primer concurso que hicieron (en el que casualmente yo también estaba), terminaron añadiendo un límite de 1000 palabras, que sería tanto para forzar a la gente a ser más creativa bajo las limitaciones... como para no sufrir bajo el hecho de tener que leer un post súper largo mientras los revisaba para el concurso. Definitivamente, al principio me gustaba hacer posts ENORMES, pero la limitación de palabras definitivamente me obligó a jugar más inteligentemente, ¡y fue bastante divertido hacerlo!
En ese sentido, me siento bastante halagado por haber conseguido una posición ganadora en uno de los concursos (creo que fue el primero en el que participé), y dejando eso de lado, es genial tener un objetivo específico con el que trabajar junto a muchos otros. Estoy deseando ver más concursos aquí, ¡intentaré presentarme en ellos todo lo que pueda! 😄

Pensar que ya ha pasado un año entero... habiendo empezado con fangames, emulación y Time Crisis, terminando 2021 con Super Contra for Arcades y luego empezando 2022 con Ridge Racer Type 4, y que mi último post antes de llegar a este hito de un aniversario fue sobre Virtua Fighter, el juego que hizo que me interesara en probar cosas con ports antiguos de PC y que me invirtiera más en lo retro Y en averiguar sobre los juegos de SEGA (porque, de nuevo, nunca tuve una consola de SEGA, así que todo era exposición de juegos de Internet y Sonic en consolas antes de esto). Definitivamente me gustaría hablar de esa última historia en algún momento, pero por ahora, puedo decir que algunas cosas simplemente vuelven así.
En todo caso, estoy aquí gracias a todos los que me han apoyado, desde los curadores de Hive, la comunidad de juegos de Hive, hasta los compañeros de juego que he encontrado en el Discord para jugar a cosas; Realmente ha sido un viaje salvaje en el que, aunque ha habido altibajos como en la vida misma, tener una salida para escribir sobre la increíble cantidad de juegos que he disfrutado a lo largo de mis 19 años de vida (20 en dos meses 😎), tanto populares como oscuros, clásicos o únicos, sin modificar o modificados (¡también estoy deseando cubrir más romhacks! ), mediante emulación o incluso en hardware real. En cuanto a esto último, probablemente fui el único en la escuela secundaria que realmente tenía juegos originales de NDS en lugar de sólo un flashcart, así que eso debería decir algo acerca de la suerte que tuve así, junto con las muchas consolas que tengo (incluyendo las que no he hablado todavía de mi propia experiencia).
Y en serio, haber conseguido gente nueva con la que hablar de juegos, disfrutar de algunas noches de juego divertidas, conseguir leer los posts de muchos otros jugadores en un solo lugar, y conseguir trabajar hacia adelante un gran objetivo gracias a Hive. Me compré un teléfono nuevo el año pasado; ha sido un poco molesto porque se me ocurrió actualizarlo... pero aparte de eso, ha sido un gran teléfono para lo que necesitaba, y ahora hay algo más a lo que aspirar... pero en cualquier caso, es genial que pueda hacerlo a través de mi propia pasión y experiencia con la escritura, ya que acabé pasando de mi blog independiente a este.
Y una vez más, no puedo enfatizar lo suficiente lo agradecido que estoy a todo el mundo aquí. Estoy deseando que este nuevo año acabe siendo mucho mejor que el anterior, tanto para la plataforma COMO para cada una de nuestras vidas ahí fuera. Dicho esto, si realmente terminaste leyendo todo y llegaste hasta aquí, tienes mi más sincero agradecimiento por celebrar mi aniversario conmigo 🙌.
