Today’s post features the grand chisel of the humongous Frost Giant called Thamur. This guy was also known as the greatest stonemason of all time. This giant originated from the realm of Jötunnheim and I had to get a piece of it’s Chisel. The journey was difficult and treacherous.

Below is a short description of “The Journey” and at the end of the post is the gameplay.

The Gameplay

IMG_6640.jpeg

We started from Tyr’s Temple. I slowly made my way to the other end as I pondered if I should find the other treasure maps before entering the next phase. After much consideration, I went to the boat and proceeded to the location.

IMG_6641.jpeg

The first part was getting underneath the statue of the giants that formed a cross in the lake. This was the Mason’s channel, I previously came here to fulfil the wish of a spirit but I had, in turn, called trouble upon myself as it turned out to be a Raven that the spirit wanted to raise, he was in loved with it.

IMG_6642.jpeg

I checked the map for assurance. I don’t get lost in game that easily but still I had to check.

IMG_6643.jpeg

Within moments I reached the icy lands. I was very surprised to see that size of this Giant. To think that Thor was able to bring down such a monstrosity was bonkers. Mimir told that Thor told everyone that bringing the giant down was no difficult task for him but Mimir knew that he only had luck on his side that helped tip the table. You see, Mjölnir had no damaging effect on the Giant but somehow Thor made the Giant fall on his own chisel that went straight through his skull.

IMG_6644.jpeg

I reached the docks and as soon as I docked I was greeted by ice Reavers and Wulvers(the worst common enemy type).

IMG_6645.jpeg

I saw that the giant’s ring crystal could be used to blast off the ice wall. I switched it both sides and looted the chest from one side.

IMG_6646.jpeg

The main path led me to a canvern that had a hidden chamber. Needless to say, these chambers belonged to Odin. And that meant a new world to explore.

IMG_6649.jpeg

I had to snake my way out of the place and finally got myself on his corpse. I say that because the entire land that I was traversing(the cavern) was basically his hand. And some parts of it’s extension had formed the ice layers.

IMG_6650.jpeg

Within minutes of peace, I saw in the distance, the enemies I had to takedown.

IMG_6651.jpeg

I roamed the area and found that this place had a chest locked up. It was sapeaked up by Runic seals. I, somehow had to find them in the vicinity.

IMG_6652.jpeg

I found the first one in the open, the second one near the entrance where I had to trigger a mechanism to change the runic sign and the last one here, trapped in tree sap. I knew how to get that out, the real question was: Where was the tree that was going to give me the red crystal?

IMG_6655.jpeg

I turned around and voila. I took it and turned out the right rune. The third rune was also sorted and I finally got this legendary enchantment, this didn’t really help much as I had better options.

IMG_6657.jpeg

And finally, we reach the right place. The head of Thamur, beneath it was the part of chisel that needed to be extracted. Mimir told that even Thor with his hammer could not break through that layer of ice. Kratos had an idea, at that point I had no idea what he was thinking so even I was surprised to hear him.

IMG_6658.jpeg

I turned around and found a wave of enemy popping up and running toward me. After them, a crew of Ogre had also popped up here. A bold fight and a hard earned victory I got in this mode.

IMG_6661.jpeg

Suddenly, a familiar voice called the gods. It turned out to be Sindri. Now, Kratos was angry that this Dwarf had something up his sleeve, the only question he had on his mind was: how did none of the Wulvers and Ogres see him, there was no place to hide in? Sindri revealed that his people had developed a way to slip between realms. That way, the mind of the “normal” people would not know what they are seeing hence they see “nothing”. A nifty trick for short people.

IMG_6662.jpeg

I moved forward and entered this cathedral looking area. A traveller was waiting for me. I quickly summoned the Wolves and charged with the runic attack.

IMG_6663.jpeg

I had to use up the resurrection stone but I didn’t care, Sindri’s shop was near. With that, I also upgraded my one of my garb. This made a good upgrade on my strength stat.

IMG_6664.jpeg

I moved forward and unlocked his hammer’s belt of the giant. This one had a crystal that I knew how to use it but I couldn’t figure out how to place it there. I tried a few thing, jumped around it and got it toward the block of ice that blocked my path.

IMG_6665.jpeg

Once that was done, we climbed up the hammer and Kratos let’s us in his plan. It went like this: they would free the hammer and ride it down, breaking the ice. What would come after, they would not know but would be be ready for it. A crazy amount of luck would be needed in order to survive the fall. If they were to come under the hammer, game over.

IMG_6668.jpeg

We didn’t reach the top yet. To get there, we would have to climb through this platform. Problem was, the platform was broken. Atreus told that the pictures in the walls resembled the four seasons, the order that his mom used to sing him with.

IMG_6669.jpeg

As it turned out, the order to place it had to be put in the reverse order. That way, the platform came together and we started to rise.

IMG_6670.jpeg

Of course it would be a shameful thing if the Wulvers and other Draugrs did not come to attack us. Each time they would attack, the platform would start to collapse only by a little overtime. Hence, this phase was the most difficult, I had to finish off enemies in the given time.

IMG_6672.jpeg

The gods climbed the hammer and pushed it down. This next ride was a real thriller, even for the gods.

IMG_6671.jpeg

They made it out without any injuries or trauma. Kratos checked Atreus for any injuries before they moved ahead.

IMG_6673.jpeg

Lo and behold, the action was literally “ground breaking”. They slowly descended down and found that the two nephews of Baldur was there. They heard the loud smash and was investigating for them.

IMG_6674.jpeg

Meanwhile, Kratos and Atreus slipped away from the pit. They reach a room that was the envy of all Midgard, the great Dining Hall. I hidden chamber could be see from this angle. Meaning, I had to come back here again after progressing in the story.

IMG_6675.jpeg

I found 3 ice wall that had 3 enemy types. That had to be broken by the red crystal sap. This was a good thing in the game, they kept me decide which enemies to choose at a time.

IMG_6677.jpeg

The final enemy to be put down was this Troll, the Stonebeard King. This wasn’t that difficult of a fight, even though I had low HP, this was the last fight for the day.

IMG_6678.jpeg

The lore about him was pretty interesting. Their legend said that this guy never lost a fight. What a daring god Kratos become. I want to see how Atreus grows up and see how strong he becomes.

IMG_6099.png

This sequence becomes more interesting as we might encounter the two sons of Thor in the next gameplay.
