Splinterlands is a fantastic TCG video game with excellent #gamelore, a passionate player base, & a involved team of developers. What makes Splinterlands unique is quite a few features, however one key feature is player governance.
What is player governance?
To keep this extremely reductive: when a video game has governance functionality it affords their players a level of agency with game changes / features.
VOUCHER updates, DEC Batteries (DEC-B), Splinterlands NFT market changes, & as always NFT giveaways.
DEC Splinterlands first crypto
DEC was once upon a time Splinterlands only token while excellent for the beginning of the title, however SPS was launched to implement governance & a greater level of depth.
DEC is still partially used for in game transactions like renting or buying / selling NFTs to one another in game / on HIVE.
DEC can typically be used on official sales as well where as SPS is still being rolled out & thus has few use cases.
In the years since Splinterlands first launched its gone through so many changes its a spectacle to behold, having played Splinterlands for years, I watched its popularity raise the game from obscurity to one of the most popular Dapps.
SPS Splintershards
Worth roughly $0.03 at time of writing SPS is getting negative opinions about it, because Splinterlands has not fully rolled out the SPS use cases.
These things take time, the SPS validator node system when fully implemented could be gaming industry changing, we just need to give the game developers time to adequately set it up.
Crypto & P2E games are more complex then a simple video game design, while no video game is simplistic. Blockchain titles like Splinterlands have to keep markets functioning, portals set up / active, now nodes for the SPS system, asset rollouts, governance, & so much more ill spare you the details suffice it to say it gets complicated.
So when an asset price stagnates like this its not a sign of defeat, personally I view it as a lack of foresight in the market overall. Judging by current conditions is a mistake I have made previously, its not one I care to make repeatedly.
Now the next few sections DEC Batteries, Rewards Cards, & VOUCHERS address recent game changes.
DEC batteries
What's a DEC-B?
A DEC-B is intended to be used as an in game only version of DEC used for upcoming not current in game sales.
Why burn DEC or (VOUCHERS) to get DEC Batteries DEC-B?
They will be purchasable by burning either 0.8 DEC or 0.005 VOUCHER tokens per DEC-B.
Personally I'm looking at DEC-B as a potential future discount when purchased now.
VOUCHER Update
The VOUCHER token on Splinterlands has had an update, my thought is many may not understand the significance of immediately.
Specifically this sentence 👇 caught my attention.
All VOUCHER tokens will begin to be handled by the SPS Chain (run by the SPS validator node software).
My understanding is that the SPS Validator Node Software will eventually handle specific forms of SPS governance & delegation.
While that aspect isn't currently active to the best of my knowledge Its part of the same system, this shows rather rapid implementation of the Splinterlands roadmap.
Splinterlands is progressing in a manor AAA game developers should be taking notes, this is how game updates should roll out, in a reasonable time & done correctly.
Being legit is no surprise for Splinterlands, the game is no...
New Rewards Cards
Anyone getting a colection started of the new rewards cards?
Nothing like that new digital card smell🙃
My day job is construction, between these write ups, work ,& testing other games, I find a few hours at best for Splinterlands lately a day.
Anyone else dig the Mushroom Designs (Ferocious Fungus Among Us).
Slow & steady enough effort these rewards cards can give any player a strong foundation to their Splinterlands Deck (Build).
For starters they add power needed to progress in league tier, besides that while cards have been granted less power for each card recently. In my opinion the newer ones have stronger stats / abilities, combine this with the new match rule sets like magic & ranged only, diversity is the key to success, as it is in a society.
The further diversified your Deck is the better, the new rewards cards go a long way to address this, which is why they have multiple summoners one for every type / Element or Splinter besides neutral.
This may not mean anything to the players that are not really aware of how rewards get determined per match won, if you own the summoner & its not the temporary card automatically provided you earn more.
When a Summoner levels up & the players League tier is higher, High level summoners can summon higher level monster cards. Different level cards effect both rewards payout & card stats / abilities.
Suffice it to say these rewards summoners will have a ripple effect from here on out.
Rewards Cards in the P2E Splinterlands are cards earned via the seasonal or daily rewards chests rewarded to ranked play match winners of sufficient tier rank & number of wins.
What cards are played & the daily challenge details effect how many reward points the match won grants the winner as well as win streak rank ect.
Other then rewards chests + the NFTs in them such as cards / packs, potions SPS, & Merits Players can also earn crypto per match won specifically SPS.
Market Liquidity
Market liquidity can be a double edge sword, market liquidity is a market's feature whereby an individual can quickly purchase or sell an asset without causing a drastic change in the asset's price.
Here is a perfect example the other day my HIVE wallet balance read unbelievably high for the balance.
Almost cruel when your wallet balance shoots to several million dollars from $50. BUDSX shot up like a trillion percent for a hot min.
When assets dont have liquidity pools or sufficient assets within them to facilitate trade the market options revert to private listings.
While getting several million dollars would be fantastic alas it was a, technological fiduciary phantom morgana(IE a mirage).
No this is simply a result of a DEX having insufficient liquidity causing the P2P listings to be the only option for trade.
This leads to the price rapidly changing if liquidity or larger markets are the cause its much more gradual & healthy.
Splinterlands assets being multi-chain causes this liquidity pool situation to get much more complex.
Look at all these asset pairings still facilitating trade & rewards for liquidity suppliers willing to take the risk in providing the liquidity.
Be wary temporary loss should be fully understood to comprehend risk, always do your own research before investing, I'm not nor have I claimed to be a financial advisor.
Splinterlands markets are a lively bunch that's for certain, ready & waiting to facilitate trade.
Monetize
You can try Splinterlands totally free get a feel for this truly fantastic TCG before spending a penny.
Once you give the title a shot if you want to begin to monetize the Splinterlands account, you will need to spend a little cash.
Now if you find yourself where this author began their Splinterlands journey, IE totally broke even $10 is sometimes to much money.
By joining HIVE for free, HIVE being Splinterlands primary blockchain anyway, you can blog to earn that $10 for a Spell book.
Sign up for HIVE via my referrals for either ecency or Peakd below (HIVE blogs)
https://ecency.com/signup?referral=chubb149
https://peakd.com/register?ref=chubb149
Once your on HIVE & figured out how to post, the https://peakd.com/@splinterlands official account on HIVE has weekly challenges.
My last entry for the social media challenge, I use earnings from https://ecency.com/@splinterlands weekly challenges to pay for NFT giveaways personally.
However the blogging & monetizing it is how I started playing Splinterlands for free.
These challenges dont require you have a spell book read the fine print follow instructions outlined you should be fine. It takes 7 days to get paid from a post & the Challenges change every 7 days.
You can find Splinterlands at the link below

WAX NFT Giveaways
Every time I post on HIVE I do a few NFT giveaways, the first & larger 5 count WAX NFT airdrop URL which goes to the first user to click the link.
The next 5 WAX NFTs are given away to the first 5 users to comment their WAX wallet address, once I see the comment Ill send you a single WAX NFT followed by a reply stating I have done so. This is for the first 5 users only to leave their WAX address in the comments.
WAX web wallet adds a fee for new wallet creation?
When we have questions no one thought to ask, like how to avoid WAX web wallets 5 WAX fee, reddit already has the answer.
You can send an email to WAX Support: support@wdny.io, they would help you bypass the fee.
Bam problem solved, the full reddit post can be found below.
Now bellow is the WAX web wallet once again free to sign up for with the workaround above.

Please understand the reason I give out Splinterlands NFTs using WAX & not HIVE is really to benefit everyone. A Splinterlands player has to pay for a Spell Book $10 in Splinterlands to get all the games features like asset transferring, a WAX wallet user can claim my giveaway for free regardless.
Miss the Airdrop? I have another 5 WAX NFTs going to the first 5 readers to comment their WAX wallet address on this HIVE post.

My inspiration for this write up
I believe the HIVE community is more understanding compared with most social media. This being said like discord its a bit of an echo chamber.
This brings me to the point a rather important one none of us care to address as its an uncomfortable concept: Recruiting new users to Splinterlands / HIVE.
But how?
One problem area of note Coin Market Cap or other pricing indexes with a comment section.
From what I can tell many social media sources dealing in crypto have a less then educated opinion about Splinterlands, that's different here on HIVE however the tone on Coin Market Cap is less then desirable.
You can make accounts on & post messages about projects on Coin Market Cap, I cant convince everyone alone please consider signing up to better inform potential new players of Splinterlands.
https://coinmarketcap.com/invite?ref=QC9P3W6R
At the very least change the tone in the SPS & DEC comment section because one person appears suspect, several together appear to form a uniform consensus. Everything is truly subjective in these markets people tend to agree with the larger group.
So which is Splinterlands
The title has itself a question posed within it being weather or not Splinterlands is due for a renaissance or weather the project should resign to defeat.
For starters I prefer to inform rather then stipulate how readers should feel; concerning the subject matter.
In my opinion however, having been with this project Splinterlands for years before the rise to fame during the SPS airdrop, the market didn't see Splinterlands potential before the SPS airdrop. While that reward mechanism was a high point its far from all the project has to offer or will eventually add.
The Splinterlands markets hitting a recent dip is more indicative of the NFT market overall & I believe a renaissance is likely in the cards for Splinterlands eventually, my plan is to be a player / fan when / if it occurs.
