In this part we went to a club to speak with our friend captain Anderson. He offered to help us get the Normandy free. Our ship was grounded by order of Ambassador Udina who betrayed us to the Council. So Anderson decided to break into Udina's office and release the Normandy so we could leave the Citadel. He run into a small problem- Udina was in his office. So captain Anderson knocked him down. Then Anderson released Normandy from Citadel and we flew to Ilos to stop Saren from finding the Conduit.
In Ilos planet we were following right after Saren's footsteps. There we also found Prothean Virtual Intelligence called Vigil. It told us the truth. Citadel is a giant Mass Relay. A trap set by the Reapers. And Conduit is another relay that leads to Citadel. So by using it Saren could find Citadel unprepared for attack. This way Saren could help reapers return. Vigil gave us some data that may help us prevent Saren from taking control of the Citadel and opening it for reapers to return.
After that Saren used the Conduit and his geth fleet appeared next to the Citadel. Surprise attack wiped out a lot of Citadel's ships. After that we followed Saren. Once we arrived to the Citadel we had to defeat an army of geth. Finally we found Saren in the chamber where Council used to be. Citadel's master control unit was there as well. So we had to upload Vigil's data quickly before Saren had not taken a control of Citadel. We tried to convince rogue spectre that what he is doing is wrong...That it is better to die fighting than live as slaves of reapers. But our speech options were not maxed out and Saren was too far gone. So we did not manage to convince him. So we stopped talking with words and started talking with bullets. Soon enough Saren fell to the ground under our feet. Guts Shepard was a spectre not a long time but he was already superior spectre.
After killing Saren we still had to deal with his master-Reaper Sovereign. We had an option to save the Council at a great cost of human lives or let them die and focus on attacking the reaper. We chose the latter option. Council were annoying and did not believe our warnings about the reapers so they got what they deserved. After the death of Saren reaper Sovereign took control over Saren's body. So we had to face him as well. We managed to slay Sovereign's new body. After that Sovereign the ship was caught off guard and destroyed by remaining ships of the Citadel. It's parts fell all over the Citadel. Some of them fell right on top us and seemingly crushed our team.
Captain Anderson came looking for us. He found Wrex and Garrus. Both of them survived. After that Guts Shepard appeared and triumphantly climbed on top of remains of Sovereign. Then ambassador Udina and Captain Anderson came and asked which of them should be a new councilor. Guts Shepard chose Anderson because did not forget that Udina betrayed and sold us to the former Council. After that Guts Shepard promised to bring down the reapers. And thus ended first mass effect game.
