The Hive blockchain is renowned for its innovative games and community-driven approach. Ever since I discovered Splinterlands a few years ago, my focus has been heavily centered on this game. I love the gameplay mechanics, the lore and artworks, the community and the tokenomics are very solid in my opinion. However, Hive has so much more to offer. Today, I want to shed light on another game that has caught my attention: Moon Karts – an exciting go-kart racing game with Web3 integration, which was created by some of the Splinterlands founders.
What is Moon Karts?
Moon Karts is a go-kart racing game developed by Arcade Colony on the Hive blockchain. It combines classic racing game mechanics with blockchain technology, giving players the opportunity to earn real rewards based on their in-game performance.
Right now, as far as I know, the game is in the alpha phase, but there are regular updates, which are published transparently on the Arcade Colony Discord.
The sale of the first packs, called "Alpha Centauri", started a while ago. Here you can get parts for your kart and drivers, which give you a special bonus and are all NFTs. At the Discord my last information was, that the sale of those packs ended on december 31th of the last year. But at the Moon Karts website you can still buy those packs and there are many left. So I am not really sure of the status about the sale of the packs.
Key Features of Moon Karts
Fast-Paced Gameplay:
Players can compete in action-packed races, master various tracks, and use power-ups to gain a tactical edge. That means it's a completely different kind of game to Splinterlands. So if you're more into action than tactics and strategy, Moon Karts could be the game for you.NFT Karts and Drivers:
Similar to all of the other Hive games, the karts and drivers are designed as NFTs. These can be traded, collected, and upgraded, adding an extra layer of strategy to the game. So you have the ture ownership of your game assets.Play-to-Earn Model:
Win races and earn rewards in the form of cryptocurrencies and NFTs. Moon Karts provides players with financial incentives to stay engaged. The main token of the game is SCRPIT, but to be honest I haven't looked into it too much yet, which would go beyond the scope of this blog.Hive Integration:
Thanks to the Hive blockchain, transactions are fast, secure, and come with no significant fees. I think I don't have to say more about this. You should all already know the benefits of our beloved Hive blockchain.
Is Moon Karts worth trying?
From my perspective, there are several reasons why Moon Karts might be worth checking out:
The Opportunity to get in early:
As a relatively new project, Moon Karts offers the chance to get involved early and benefit from the game’s growth – whether through collecting rare NFTs or earning rewards. If Moon Karts becomes successful, it will be a massive advantage to get in early. We have seen this with Splinterlands, but also with other crypto projects.Community Engagement:
The developers of Moon Karts place a strong emphasis on community involvement, allowing players to actively shape the game through feedback. You can be part of this community and give your feedback to the developers on the Arcade Colony Discord.Fun Factor:
In my opinion, fun should always be at the forefront of games. Many people enjoy racing games, which already exists. Comparable to Moon Karts in some ways is Mario Kart, which is very popular among players, including myself. So the fun factor should be there.
My Final Thoughts
For the last point of this blog points you have to know, that I don't have a very big budget for my crypto investments and I want still have a big part of it into Splinterlands. That is why my investments require in-depth analysis, which can sometimes take a little longer.
This was just my first look at Moon Karts, but I learned about some positive aspects. This is definitely enough for me to take a closer look at Moon Karts, especially the SCRIPT token and tokenomics, which are very essential for a play-to-earn game.
