What's up fellow gamers! Ok maybe I am bit of a wannabe, and don't play as much as I like, but who does not love video games? The newsets system that I have had the pleasure of playing is the Nintendo Switch. Which I find amazing! I still have not played the Ps4, let alone the 5. None of the newer XBox systems either. This is something that does not keep me up at night. Far from it. The reason being, I have found the older games to be very enjoyable, and get the same thrill as someone playing Elden Ring on Ps5. I know that the new systems will blow me away, but in the mean time I am content on what I have. Especially we are really talking about what I set up for my son's.
That's right! I set this up in my son's room over the weekend. I have had the XBox 360, and the PS2 in storage collecting dust. Then of course my Retron that plays NES games I picked up a while back to test out my NES cartridges. You can check out that post here. My oldest has had the Switch since 2 Christmases' ago, and then the DS that actually got me into games again.
The TV has also been sitting around collecting dust as well. I think this is a LCD. IT is so old it still has a AV hookup! Which is actually perfect for my needs, since the PS2, and NES requires this hookup. The only thing missing in the equation to setup my dream Retro station was the time, and motivation. I am very stoked that I finally got around to doing this, as well as my sons!
This stack of PS2, and PS1 game is one of the main motivators to setup the PS2(which plays the Ps1 CD's), and the XBOX. I found these a while back, but thought they were junk.
This Street FIghter Alpha is a little rare as well, and I did not know I had it until yesterday when I found it in another games case! I think it's pretty badass. Also not pictured is Mortal Kombat Trilogy, which my son, and I have been obsessed over. Graphics kinda suck, but it is still fun.
This XBOX 360 went into storage due to missing the controller attachment. At the time my sons where way to young for games, and I could care less. So it was easy to forget about. Last week I spent 6$, and now it's back in action.
We do not have as many games for this system as the others, but we got some great ones! Also to all my games out there, is the 360 in the same class as the PS3?
Can't forget the Switch! Such a great system. We even can play the old N64, SNES, and Sega games on here. My son has been enjoying the new Pokemon Violet game. Have you been playing this, or Scarlet? Let me know what you think.
Here is my favorite console. The Nintendo DS. I actually came across this, and a lite a few years back with the game New Super Mario Bros, and I fell in love with it! The best part of this DS is it is hacked, and has around 20 games on it. I can have up to 200, which eventually I will get. Do you have any favorite DS titles you can recommend?
So that's the setup. I will add more to it over time. I really want to go through my Step Dads storage, to see if I can find my Genesis, and 32x. Yes I bought the 32x when the price dropped to 19$ lol! I know you can play a lot of these games digitally now. But I love the physical copies so much better. When my son's are older I will eventually get them the newest console out. But I think them playing these old games are good for them. For one to get the fell. Then mainly for them to understand the history, and to see how gaming evolved into what it is now. It really has come a long way since the old days of blowing into carts to get them to work, (Kidding do not do that!) to the games you can now download to your device. Let me know in the comments. Do you prefer a physical copy, or a digital?
