After completing the latest instalment of Dragon Age, I find myself in a Post-Game Melancholic Funk. The Sandrock posts I've written in the meantime were ones that I'd prepared prior to the Veilguard's launch... and now I don't really feel like continuing it. 😅
Part of me wants to do another Veilguard playthrough, this time knowing things/events that I did not know before, but for the time being... I thought it would be nice to just chill out for a while.
And... what better way to 'chill out' than to suffer through yet another Hardcore Minecraft Attempt! xD
🌟 What is my goal when I do these?
🌷 Simply... to see how long I can last. I want to have an epically long-lasting Hardcore world, built up beautifully to showcase my time and dedication. I have no desire to test myself against bosses and stuff; that's not me.
So, let's begin. 😊
First of all, as with all previous attempts, my first goal is to find a nice area I can call my own. I generally like Dark Oak Biomes best as I find them aesthetically pleasing... what, with all the dark wood and red mushrooms everywhere. I just think it looks nice.
I'm always open to other landscapes too. Like, in my last attempt I found a nice mountain top in a cherry blossom biome. We'll see what happens!
In the distance was a village so I ran over to it and grabbed their farm seeds and roamed through their houses looking for treasure. I didn't really find much except wheat, but I also stole one of their beds. Muahaha.
Being trapped in the desert and badlands, it took me a while to find a cave where there was actually stone, but when I did I finally made myself a bunch of stone tools and thankfully found a small batch of iron.
There wasn't much, but it was enough to make one single iron pickaxe which I would cherish until I managed to find more iron.
Not wanting to live in the desert or badlands, but grateful I knew where to find a bunch of sand if ever I needed it, I hopped onto a boat and went on an adventure.
I didn't have to sail for very long before stumbling upon a great meadow and savannah biome.
I normally wouldn't bother with such a region except as a last resort, getting tired of trying to find a preferable spot, but I decided that this would be a good location for now.
Mostly because every single animal was here! Sheep, pigs, cows, chickens. A smorgasbord!
I could have this as my farm and mining region, then set up a nether portal to go visit somewhere else.
So I got set up in a nearby mountain.
And quickly got to work on the Great Farmlands of Melancholy.
There's only two paddocks at the moment due to not having enough oak wood, but that'll soon be fixed thanks to a small forest I've planted solely for wood. xD
Soon my two fields were populated with a couple of sheep and a couple of cows, which I would breed excessively until each paddock overflows!
The sheep are for wool more than mutton, as I like to have lots of colourful wool for decorative purposes.
The cows are for their steak, milk and most importantly - leather! For my future books and library.
I'll grab some chickens next, as I don't really need pigs. But for the time being, whilst waiting for trees to grow, it was time to mine. Mine, mine, mine. So much mining. With stone tools because I'm saving my sole iron pickaxe for the important things I may or may not come across.
Around a depth of 24 is apparently one of the best layers for looking for iron, other than in caves. I still miss how mining used to be before they updated it, but then, I suppose this way of doing things does make it more challenging and force you to explore more.
So I dug down, down, down to y24 and began my hunt for the elusive ore.
Once I reached y24, it didn't take long to suddenly mine into a huge cave system!
It had a good amount of iron in it, as well as many enemies. A creeper almost took me out. Thankfully it didn't ruin my first post. xD
At last, after surviving my first cave adventure, I was all decked out and ready to face any skeletons who wanted to shoot me in the butt!
I've got my chickens, sheep and cows, now my current goal is to do a shit-tonne of digging. I'd like to lighten up this massive cavern a bit, make it safer to explore, and make my way down to the Area of Diamonds.
I'm going to set up this whole cave system for mining purposes, then continue on my quest to find the perfect place for a proper base. 😄
Until next time! 🐷🌱🐣
