Dredge - Helping More Locals and Upgrading My Boat

in #hive-14021720 hours ago

Hello and Welcome back to my blog!

In my last post on Dredge, I talked about exploring the Mangroves in the north-western part of the map and how I progressed. Let's continue this fishing adventure from there.

I had a boat full of big crates and a couple of research parts with me. These crates can be given to the Iron Rig so they can enhance my equipment.

I made a couple of enhancements to my vessel. The first one was easy, just one crate and $50 for enhanced light which would be a stronger one and give more light and reduce the effects of panic.

But for these, I had to spend two research parts each which is kind of expensive for me. However, the game gives you some and you can dredge them out of the ocean floor too.

I wonder what the Tier 2 in Tech Lab is for. Maybe some good attachment and quality-of-life upgrades?

I saw a fin out of water too. I don't know if it was a shark, a killer whale or simply a dolphin. There was just one of them and it ran away quickly and I don't think I had any chance to catch it either. Usually, there are hotspots which can be used only to catch fish, but not like this. But maybe we will get some torpedos or spears to catch these too? That would be quite interesting.

My next target was to go back to that scared courier who wanted me to deliver a package to the Little Marrow. He was too afraid to deliver it himself.

This package was meant for the dockworker there. I reached there the next morning and delivered that spooky package. This was an easy quest and I got a book, Getting Over It with Mind and Body, which I instantly started reading.

These books can be read during the travels and after you finish reading the book, it gives a specific boost. This one helped me reduce the panic in the dark. First the enhanced lights and now this book buff gave me more confidence in going out fishing at night too.

I looked at my active quests (there were a lot of them) and found one which I could do relatively easily. There was a builder who wanted to set up a house on a nearby island and she wanted some raw materials delivered. But I had to dredge some parts out of the ocean first.

Surprisingly, most of the raw materials were already with me. I just needed another 'Metal Scraps' and those were close to the 'Steel point', the place where we had to deliver those materials.

After I helped her with this task, she gave me a book called Art of the Silver Tongue. The name doesn't tell much about it. Perhaps, something which helps me get more money from selling items to the collector?

But I was still reading the other book and you can't read two books simultaneously. I think it takes at least three to four days to complete a book if you are not resting too much at night.

Not only the book, but she allowed me to use the storage here. I thought she would be buying fish too but nope. However, new storage locations are quite good too. I can catch a lot of oceanic fish and store them in storage and have space to dredge out more items.

I caught a huge bronze whaler. And due to the limited size of the cargo, I could only store one lol. But at least, I got two more research parts for helping her move out here.

It was finally time to upgrade my boat. I had now a total of four research parts and used three of them to research a new engine, the Twin Prop Engine.

This one is more powerful and faster than what I was using. But researching is just half of the work done, you have to buy the Engine from the Shipwright. It was $450 but I had just about $150 to spare. Well, I had to fish for a couple of days straight.

The Twin propeller engine wasn't tough to buy. Just a couple of days of catching and selling fish got me enough to get that upgrade and it feels much faster than the previous one. Even though the speed isn't that high yet. Also, I completed reading the Getting Over It with Mind and Body book which increases resilience to panic by another 15%. Good for more night shifts, I guess.

This game is coming along nicely. For me, it has been quite relaxing. I am just choosing whatever I like, sometimes I do a couple of quests in a row while at other times I just fish for three days straight without any care in the world. And when I am bored with that too, I just go out and explore. But I haven't explored much though, I want to get more upgrades going before I go out for longer voyages and explore the other major sections of the map.

Until next time...

This game is pretty cool, I didn't know it. I loved the graphics, it reminds me of the style of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. 💕
