Hello and Welcome back to my blog!
Let's continue the fishing adventure. In the last post, I discussed some of the mechanics of fishing and introduced many NPCs with their own quests and missions in the central location of the map, the Marrows. But I thought I spent a bit more time in this region than I should have and headed for the north's open waters.
We were at Day 15 already; fishing makes the day go super quickly and going out at night is risky so it is better to be resting at night and selling your catch.
Anyway, I kept going North and saw a giant metal platform, that looked like some machinery for mining underwater minerals.
We docked on the base and were greeted by the Foreman. He told us that, their cargo ships kept sinking in the ocean and they wanted my help to find some crates and get back here.
They marked the location of those ships too so, it was easy to find and dredge out of the ocean.
I misjudged the time it would take and ended up late in the night in open waters. It could have turned badly but somehow we reached safely to the Iron Rig. Delivering these Crates helped them set up a Generator on top of this rig.
He thanked us and asked us to meet the Scientist on top of this rig.
He wanted to set up a science lab and needed one crate for that, which we already had from our dredging that shipwreck task. Good thing I tossed a couple of fish to make room for three crates.
He is researching some local fish species and gave us a task to catch a few unique fish (I don't even remember their names, they were so weird...lol). I had never heard of them.
While this was going on, our catch was rotting in my cargo. The only place I could sell it was back to the Marrow which was a bit far. But this problem was solved as the Generator uses a unique kind of biofuel where I can just sell my fish to them. I am not sure if they pay the same price as the fishmonger back in Greater Marrow but it was a good way to sell my fish out here.
The next day, I went to explore this area. There was a small island towards the west of here. I went to check if I could catch some new kind of fish there.
There was an old rusty ship close to the rocks and as I got closer to inspect it. A big crab came out of the water. Turns out he was carrying this ship as a shell (?). No clue, what was going on here but luckily it didn't chase after us. The sudden music change was like a jumpscare.
It went in again so I tried going close to it again and it came back up. That is one scary-looking thing so I will keep my distance.
But I got a research part around here which is how I will unlock new things and equipment in the game and upgrade others.
I found a dog tag as well. Maybe the collector will take it for a good price?
I wonder what are these eyes that I can see at night? I should not be in the ocean at midnight...lol.
When I went back to that Iron rig, a cutscene played where a crack in the ocean floor appeared. What the hell are these guys drilling here?
They had to stop the drilling to study those. More things are unlocked here. One of them was a factory which sells Infused rods. These rods are more powerful and used to catch more fish, I guess. But making them requires the base rod/equipment along with a crate and other things. Not easy for a new player like me, I guess.
Fortunately, we don't have to go back to the Marrows to buy the basic rods. There was a new guy who ran an under-market and could be used to buy those. He also sold some research parts and I can get some parts for sure.
I think now the Iron Rig is fully unlocked. I can forge a crate in the foundry, get high-tech equipment in the Tech Lab, submit my samples of rare fish to the scientist at the Science lab, dump my catch in the generator for money and buy equipment in the under-market.
Now, all I need is to catch a lot of fish, sell it and make money to buy more research parts, upgrade my vessel, catch those rare fish and find the cause of those earthquakes. Did I say, all I need? Never mind, I need to do a lot of things.
On top of all these, I still have to explore a lot of other islands and areas and catch a lot of new fish species to add to my encyclopedia. It is a bit overwhelming at this moment but I guess it will get better as I upgrade my boat and get more cargo space and better equipment to catch more fish.
