If you find yourself nomadically exploring a game more than just playing the main objective, then you should instantaneously know that you're playing a game that has given you access to an immersive world.
A world where the side characters and missions demand more attention, and rightfully so. Attention to detail in character design, various ways to build a relationship with a main/side character, a world where almost every nook and cranny is available to interact with; now that's an adventure.
You just can't get enough of it, and when experiencing such games you only decide to Quit To Desktop when you're physically tired; yet, mentally you're still in that world, looking for new ways to interact and new places to discover and explore.
Night City is one hell of an experience, it's unique, sure, but it's flawed, more than any other RPG game in the past decade or so.
Yes, with time the devs are "fixing" things, but if the game still has one or two serious issues even after 2 years of release, then that's just not acceptable; especially for those who waited countless years and paid full price too.
I get it, COVID messed up a lot of things for countless industries, and the gaming/e-sports industry was one of them, but now that's a thing of the past. And for a mid-sized studio that holds close to a thousand devs and professionals, it just shouldn't take this long to make amends. Yet, the people at CD Projekt Red encourage the players to stay calm and wait for the upcoming DLC. Saying that all the waiting and trouble will be worth it in the end.
It's an addition that will completely revamp the whole experience, they say. And after watching a bit of the gameplay footage, it really does look like a completely different game. If they added a bit more content, about 30 to 40 hours of game time, then the DLC could've passed for a whole new game.
Then they probably could've renamed it and called it Cyberpunk 2078 instead. Maybe?
Yet, CD Projekt Red wouldn't carry out something of that sort, because I believe they are one of the very few studios that are still quite "ethical".
Nevertheless, DLC or no DLC, I still haven't finished the main game yet.
I'm no perfectionist when it comes to such games, 80% completion is more than enough for me, 70% even. Nor am I in a hurry to finish such games, rushing through the main Campaign just ruins the experience, and then you don't really get your money's worth.
So, I'd rather take it slow while I build up my character, as I'm waiting for the new DLC's release.
Hopefully, they won't fully reset the main character and its abilities, that would just be sad. I've spent quite a lot of time building my character, as I'm now over 50 hours in. Also, the chances are that newer, high-tier additions will be available in the DLC, which will make the old mechanics, parts, and chrome obsolete.
Now, that'd be a real bummer!
For now, I like the idea of living two lives, switching between them every now and then.
From V to Johnny, from Johnny to V, the ghost rocker of the past, and the fan-favorite merc of the present-future. It's like you're playing two different versions of the game already. But soon, it won't just be our buddy Keanu Reeves and us. Idris Elba is joining the cast, and from the looks of it, he doesn't look like the friendly kind. Johnny might be an asshole, but at least he's on our side.
I guess we'll have to wait and see what the DLC unravels. Dogtown does look interesting, but I'm more interested in the story and the main characters.
Is anyone else hyped for the new DLC? Or is it just me?
