For this week's challenge, we will showcase the 'Keep Your Distance' ruleset, where units with melee attacks may not be used. I will share a Ferexian Modern Silver Invitational Tournament battle. Let's take a closer look at the card I used in this this ruleset and how it contributed to my team's victory.
Use Phase, Void, Void Armor, and Magic Reflect to counter magic attacks. Use Headwinds and Return Fire to counter ranged attacks. Units with 2 types of attack (which include melee) cannot be used. |
For this battle, here are the specific rulesets and a mana cap to consider:
Rulesets:
Keep Your Distance: Units with melee attacks may not be used.
Silenced Summoners: Summoners do not give any buff or debuffs or grant/use any abilities.
Counterspell: All monsters have the Reflect ability.
Mana Cap: 55
Active Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Death
Summoner: Kelya Frendul
- Since one of the rulesets is Silenced Summoner, I just used this card to summon Water units.
Position 1: Djinn Oshannus
- This card has a good stat for Speed and also has the Phase ability to even dodge magic attacks. Even though one of the rulesets is Reflect, its Void ability will further weaken the reflected magic attack.
Position 2: Baakjira
- This card has the Slow and Void ability too. It will also inherit 2 magic attack power from Daarg Deadblast's Weapons Training ability.
Position 3: Daarg Deadblast
- Aside from Weapons Training, it also has Swiftness and Triage ability to heal the damage from reflected magic attacks.
Position 4: Merdaali Guardian
- This is my support that has the ability to heal unit in the first position. It will also inherit 2 magic attacks from Daarg Deadblast's Weapons Training ability.
Position 5: Angelic Mandarin
- This is my second support monster that has the Triage ability.
Position 6: Wave Brood
- This monster has the Taunt ability and has placed at the farthest position. It will be supported by Daarg Deadblast and Angelic Mandarin's Triage ability.
Strategy:
The strategy here is to overwhelm the enemy with magic attacks. Even though one of the rulesets is Reflect, my line up has Void and Triage abilities to compensate the set back of this ruleset. Also, my line up has the Swiftness and Slow ability to further increase my ability to win this battle.
The enemy used Kelya Frendull too and ranged attack monsters with high attack power. The enemy also used Djinn Oshannus and Wave Brood in its line up.
The fight goes as planned and my monsters were able to support each other and also, enemy attacks missed on Djinn Oshannus because of its buffed speed.
