Another route to be taken forward
This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types
After getting back through Diglett's cave and ensuring his Pokemon were ready again, Goliath headed back to the daycare centre in which he grabbed his Shellder back.. it had grown by four levels and is ready to start fighting one more, which will be happening pretty soon, against some trainers heading along the next route.
The first trainer in the route to the East of Cerulean city, is a Jr Trainer starting out with a Rhyhorn, such a beastly Pokemon to some extent.. hasn't been seen from what he remembers but a Dratini bubblebeam is enough to take it down with one shot!
Dratini only took the damage from one horn attack so it was still fighting fit of course, but it wouldn't be kept out for the next fight and it was only brought out, since Shellder has no water moves to use yet.
Up next would be a fight between Clefairy and Shellder which would take some time based on the withdraw to raise defence on Shellder while Clefairy kept attacking.. But this would turn into a super potion being used to keep Shellder alive as the Clefairy kept taking damage and ultimately, ended up losing and fainting. Final two Pokemon were a Psyduck and Staryu but Grimer was on top of them because of it's strength.
It was a good thing Grimer was taught Thunderbolt because of the next fight against a Hiker. A Doduo was owning Shellder until Goliath brought out the power hitting, Grimer.
Thunderbolt tore through this Doduo and proceeded to continue and do the same to the follow up Pokemon used, a Seel.
After finishing that trainer battle and getting straight into yet another.. the Oddish was no match for the peck of Farfetch'd, good experience but it was a weakling against Goliath. Then a Cubone came out next but it was still no match, this time for Dratini's Bubblebeam which did a lot of damage to it and it got to level twenty three!
Another trainer fight had some cool and tougher Pokemon but the Porygon only had tackle for damage, which allowed Shellder to hit level seventeen before getting called back. Farfetch'd was used to fight the Butterfree but with it's current poison and the damage from Confusion, well it was lights out and Grimer got in a solid Thunderbolt to end Butterfree.
A couple of minor trainer battles got in the way of progressing, a cooler one came next when a Machop got defeated to bring Shellder to level eighteen since it was first brought out before Grimer, it learned Supersonic and then Grimer also hit level twenty eight!
After taking out that trainers Slowpoke with an easy Thunderbolt one hit, and a Mankey, one final trainer was going to cause trouble before the poke centre next to rock tunnel..
A higher level Diglett would use dig to first take out Dratini with one hit.. then Wartortle came next and the water moves were no longer the go to in this battle.
After Venonat almost died as well it was time for Grimer who had survived dig to come out with a might body slam and win the fight. Goliath could now heal up before going inside rock tunnel.
Emulator used: RetroArch with a Gameboy Colour core
ROMS: Pokemon Blue after being put through the randomiser
Saving: (Used for quick loading and for getting back to before I had all Pokemon faint, if I lose and so it is quicker.)
