Getting closer to Rock Tunnel's end

This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types

Trouble was next up with the first Pokemon only being an easy Ekans fight with some damage taken and that isn't the point.. the Zubat and the damn confusing Goliath's Pokemon was the problem.

Grimer was not taking things in a good way and got weakened right down low, this led to it losing and Shellder had to bring out the supersonic in return to Zubat who also had the stronger confuse ray being used, but luckily enough damage got done by Shellder that it was victorious.

The Spearow coming out last was a tough fight for Dratini and did a solid amount of damage before Dratini got the victory and this was another trainer battle down, bubblebeam does wonders for damage!

Then a Hiker was up next with Squirtle bringing in the starting moves, among being paralysed by Grimer before Venonat was brought out, Squirtle got a good few hits from tackle and then couldn't move, from paralysis which enabled Venonat's tackle to keep hitting without fail and require Voltorb to come out.

Dratini got finished off quickly with the rest of its health, by the sonicboom of Voltorb which annoyed Goliath to have one of his current favourite Pokemon be taken out. Wartortle got used for some damage and to soak up some more and Venonat can tackle the Voltorb down the last little bit.

The final Pokemon to face was going to end Goliath right here. Hitmonchan could easily take out Venonat without taking much damage and this only left a Shellder with low health, able to get a supersonic out but it would end with losing and heading back to the poke centre outside of Rock Tunnel.

With freshly healed Pokemon and avoiding most wild Pokemon appearing during his run through the tunnel, a Bulbasaur appeared and it couldn't be turned down.. Wartortle kept weakening it while getting hurt, Bulbasaur didn't put up a fight though in the poke ball and this ensured a successful catch.

This then led into a solo Pokemon held by a hiker further in than Goliath got earlier as he skipped the battle he lost. This was a high level Charmander not able to damage Wartortle since it was using growl to lower attack but it was a losing battle considering how strong water is against fire, at least level twenty on the Wartortle would be a good bonus since there was a lot of experience gained!

Before being able to rest up and happy with which spot he was sitting in, Goliath got back into that losing battle with nearly fully healed Pokemon besides the damage Wartortle took before. Voltorb could now be taken out by Dratini, then the Hitmonchan would be taken out by Grimer's Thunderbolt and Body Slam.

This gave Goliath a chance to rest and be fully caught up on eating and drinking, same with his Pokemon and getting ready to move on again.

Saving: (Used for quick loading and for getting back to before I had all Pokemon faint, if I lose and so it is quicker.)

Stay tuned to see how I go with leveling, what team I am using and my journey as I progress through Pokemon Blue.

All screenshots taken are from my playthrough of Pokemon Blue with randomised same level areas and using Venonat as the starter.

Looks like a blast. I don't recall which Pokemon game i played when i was younger. It's just amazing some of these older games were able to survive and still be playable to this day.

I prefer on original hardware but for posting, emulator is better. Always a blast to play the original Pokemon games
Yes they do survive and keep being something to enjoy playing 20 - 30 years later, completely different to the games made these days!

I think these games will be played for a long time. At least for as long as someone remembers the good old days. Emulators are doing a great job of preserving these gems.

People love emulators for the fact, they don't have to pay heaps to get the same from the retro games and consoles.. but I honestly prefer maintaining the physical hardware and the nostalgia and memories they have with them.

But I also love emulators as I cannot afford the physical stuff all the time so it is good until I can.

It will definitely keep being preserved!
